So Phil fulmer somehow made Currie hire schiano then made him back out to look like a moron.

Currie doesn’t need fulmers help to look like an idiot.

Currie botched this.

After Fulmer helped drag Currie through the mud by sabotaging him behind the scenes. Currie worked for Mike Hamilton at Tennessee when Hamilton fired Fulmer nearly 10 years ago. Currie and Fulmer are in a pissing match, to no one's surprise.

Some here are too young to remember/know just how badly Phat Phil stabbed his former best friend & HC, Johnny Majors, to get the HC job out from under Majors. As I recall, Majors was out on sick leave or something of that nature, Phat Phil was appointed as a temporary interim HC till Majors recovered, and then Phat Phil went behind his back & grabbed the HC job full time. According to the UT beat writer today on ESPN 2, he & Majors have not talked since the 90's. This is UT's new A.D.

Fulmer - AD

Les Miles - Head Coach

Chavis/Martin(or whomever else) - DC/OC

I would love the reaction on this particular site if this happens. Ha!

I'm absolutely positive that Fulmer and some prominent boosters not named Haslam organized this coup on Sunday morning.

However, who do you think McMurphey's source is? Lol. Pretty fricking obvious.

It seems Currie had maybe 3 guys lined up to accept the job(Schiano, Brohm, and potentially Leach) and it seems somebody above him cut him off at the knees each time. Currie has good reason to deflect some blame on this.

Heart surgery, and this isn't talked about very much, but Johnny had a serious, serious drinking problem at the time, he wasn't the same guy and was abusive to the players and assistant coaches. Half the team threatened to quit if Doug Dickey didn't name Fulmer the HC, and Fulmer would have taken another gig if Majors had resumed as HC.

I'm not saying Fulmer or Dickey were right, they weren't, but there's more to this story than got reported.

One other thing, once Majors was gone, there was a new rule instituted by Fulmer to the players and other coaches

"Badmouthing Johnny Majors would not be tolerated".

Fulmer still worships that man, but I know Johnny will never forgive him.

The speculation, not confirmed yet, is that Currie didn't have authority to get a signed MOU from Schiano without the Chancellor signing off. In other words, he didn't clear any of these offers with with the brass before he made them.

Insubordination, fired for cause is very likely for Currie. Currie ran to the media to protect his image and the media has been all too happy to make him a victim.

That’s just what Currie is saying to save his reputation.

Clay Travis is the one who said higher ups nixed the Brohm deal. Clay's not really trying to spare Currie's reputation.

I really don't know what happened with Brohm, but I think Currie offered way over market value and didn't clear it with the brass beforehand.

The fanbase would not have "Scalped." Brohm, Leach or Gundy like we did with Schiano and Dorean. Fwiw.

Brohm, Leach, and Gundy have no way of knowing that. I'd never coach somewhere where Clay Travis runs the football program. Tennessee fans think they are some sort of heroic when idiotic is more accurate. Your fans are too biased to step back and look at what you've done to that job.
