With as poorly as LSU’s defense played in 2020, this snail pace on the arrival of a new DC would normally be driving this board crazy, Well done, I guess?

Really, though. The alternative is a "snap hire", probably from a retirement home, of somebody who has never even seem film of a Freeze or Briles offense. At least, after Freeman chose "other".
I'll take this measured approach AND the approach of making sure the strengths of the position coach matchup with the weakness of the DC hire.
I've been fearful that they would announce announce Barry Alvarez with Lou Holtz as a special assistant (1988 DC & HC for ND champ team) any day now.
I'm less fearful when there ISN'T an announcement. That has an expiration date however. But it is far off because recruiting is almost, not quite but close, over for the '21 class and look how many guys we got to come back by firing/demoting Bo without replacing him. So no need to rush.
A side note, who knew the key to keeping guys was to demote their coordinator. We've been doing this all wrong for several decades.
