"Scot is a rising star who has worked with some very good quarterbacks, and has achieved a tremendous amount of success," Chizik said. "He is a tireless worker, is an outstanding recruiter and knows the rigors of competing in this conference. We're very excited to have Scot join our staff and we welcome him to the Auburn family."
At Temple, Loeffler helped guide the Owls to a 9-4 record, directing an offense that was seventh nationally in rushing averaging 256.5 yards per game and 39th nationally in scoring (30.6 ppg). Running back Bernard Pierce was sixth nationally in rushing, averaging 123.4 yards a game.

Not quite the homerun hire I was hoping for, guess we missed the primary target.

so much for upgrading the passing game. 115th in the nation. not crazy about this hire at all.

Its too early to tell if this will be a home run or not. I like he is a young up and coming guy too. I'm excited as it seems he is well respected and has coached some really good QB's and put them into the NFL. I'm pretty excited about the hire.

Misleading really. Others have said they didn't have a competent QB or good WR's. So who knows.

Ex-Michigan QB coach Scot Loeffler now at Temple: 'I love the college game'
quote:
“Talk to any quarterback Scot's ever coached,” said Carr on Wednesday. “They'll all say the same thing: His meetings are unbelievable. You're gonna learn the game and he makes it fun. His expectations are high. But they're not unrealistic.”
quote:
This man found a way to get John Navarre on an NFL roster for two years. Case rested.

Like his friend Brady, Loeffler is a videotape freak. He watches game films not of necessity but because he loves to analyze football. It's why he's as good as he is at his job.

Temple's QB position was much worse than ours this past year. I mean just terrible talent.

In his defense, it appeared he had nothing to work with at Temple at the qb position in his only year there. A couple of athletes they tried at qb, but nothing more.

This is what excites me the most about him.

On a positive note, the teams we play early on next year are not going to know what the frick is coming at them. Hell, none of us Aubies even know or will know.

“I love my job,” said Loeffler. “I love the college game. With all the quarterbacks I've had the opportunity to coach, I've loved recruiting them when they're 16 and seeing them develop them into 22-year-old men when they can apply what you've taught them to the next level.”
quote:
To hear Carr tell it, Loeffler might have been Brady had it not been for his shoulder injury. Could he have played at the highest level? “Oh, yeah,” said Carr. “He was a big guy, 6-3. Had a good arm. And he knew where to go with the ball. “When he came here, he immediately showed a real maturity. A lot of guys think it's all about what a strong arm you have. They soon find out playing quarterback is about intelligence. “You're under great time constraints. You have to communicate quickly and efficiently to everybody in that huddle. And then you have to be able to get to the line of scrimmage and change everything. “You've gotta be smart and study the game. Because before the ball's ever snapped, you have the major responsibility on the whole field. “He had that from the beginning. He was always one of those guys who knew what to do and could handle everything.”

Had they been 115th with decent QB's and receivers I would be worried. But the dude came from Temple. We hired Borges from f*cking Indiana and that worked out pretty well.

i think shithead ensminger finished the season calling the plays.
Hey, that is not necessary. Ensminger is really a super nice guy. Gave me a $30 tip for getting his brakes done in under an hour. Not his fault he had Kodi Burns at QB to finish the season.

What does it matter? Obviously he wasn't the first choice, but so what if we had to wait 40 days.
