Having thought about this, I think LHN may be the biggest draw for Saban here. He would have much greater ability to mold it for his own purposes (messaging and recruiting) than he would the general media.
Saban is known for looking at programs and analyzing what things they are not taking advantage of, and he could well see LHN as number one on that list for Texas.

I think LHN could be a draw also because nick would totally control the message.
Mack had considerable power over it and friendly local media. I have plenty of stories of Mack paying people in Belmont hall to monitor radio programming etc, and calling anybody he felt crossed him into his office and cutting off there access. It has happened many time on the supposed independent 1300 am.
Rod Babers was the most recent offender. He was Mack's boy and a former player and put on sideline duty. Rod said some things Mack didn't like this year and called him to the office where Rod quit rather then being censored.

The LHN has made Texas a perennial 8-4 program at best. . $300 million and your coach doesn't have time to coach bc he is jacking with the cameras of the LHN all day.
Agree with OP, Saban would not do well with the LHN cloud over his head. If he goes to Texas is it possible that ESPN will have to give up some of the access rights of the LHN? He might require it as part of the deal.

No Mack brown made Texas perennial 8-4 because he quit recruiting hard instead basing it on recruiting ratings and offers made junior year. You know it's been four or five years since Texas had an oline man drafted in the nfl and that's unacceptable. He has also fostered a sense of entitlement amongst the athletes and let the strength and conditioning program go to absolute shite.
He also stuck by assistant coaches to long. Really there was no excuse to even try Manny at d cordinator this year after last year.
LHN has had absolutely nothing to do with it.

I don't think he's going to Texas, but this would not be the reason or even a reason he wouldn't go if he otherwise wanted to. He would simply explain to them that the runs the LHN now and the Texas people would just nod their heads.

I have been saying this since the beginning. Personality type and approach to how he (Saban) wants to run a program?
Dealing with the LHN would be a pain. Mack Brown doesn't even like it that much and he is a pretty personable guy.

Much rather him then somebody like Bilemma who was talked about earlier this week.
I would LOVE to see this. His offense would fail in the Big 12 and his teams would get shredded by the HUNH offenses the fat man hates so much. Not only that, but the Arkansas meltdown would be epic.

Dude Saban would use the LHN as his own ministry of propaganda in recruiting.

why is he gonna be on the BCS broadcast for the big game? Saban loves the attention.
He loves the attention when it's on his terms.
I've been thinking this all along. He's not going want to get out of bed post-loss Sunday morning to give interviews to some pimply faced intern at the LHN to explain the loss.
And he's going to lose some in the process of rebuilding.
The only thing I see making him taking the UT job is that his finances are that screwed up, more than people know.

I'm sorry but your somebody that does not understand the lhn. Have you ever seen it. There are no pimple face interns giving interviews. It is an espn production for Christ sake, and one of the best recruiting tools ever invented if used properly.
A recruit can literally sit in his underwear and soak up all your propaganda you put on the thing. It's so good in fact aggies got nervous and bolted there conference over it.
