in one breath you say how dumb O is. In the next, O is a diabolical genius!

frick O! He truly is as dumb as he looks and sounds.

Should he have lied and told everyone their job was safe and new coordinator will not bring in anyone? Try selling that gig to an OC or even to the current staff.
do Harbaugh, Saban, or Urban let the incoming coordinators control staff?

I have no doubt Lane was a top target, and even though I'm not the biggest Alleva fan, I'd wager that they knew it was a possibility that Kiffin would be looking for a head gig and they understood they would be looking elsewhere. O was hired with the understanding that he bring in a top OC, not necessarily Kiffin, but he was definitely top on their list.

Yep, after a few times of Orgeron getting burned by this, he will clam up the program to the outside just like Miles did. Allowing people too much access to your program can def hurt you in many ways.

fine. But to phrase it as when Lane comes(if that happened), is foolish

Who's to say if that's 100% accurate or if it even happened. Like someone already said, when ANY new OC comes in, staff could become fluid. Clark could have just inserted Kiffin's name in that because that's who we were all talking about.

Why are people mad at Clark?

O's management skills have obviously (not) come a long way. ie Letting Fournette play vs Florida.

Didn't say I was mad. Just saying this is fuel for the anti O crowd to overreact to.

you fixed the only staff issue when you fired Peveto, O.

I'm not convinced that the current offensive line coach is the best that LSU can do. It's so important to be a great recruiter, but in the SEC West having to play Alabama every year it's just as important to be a great coach. Offensive line is the most important position against Alabama. Without good play upfront, you can forget about having success on offense.
Maybe he is a good coach, and the problem has been the QB. It's hard to ignore the play of the offensive line when a team like LSU with as much talent upfront only nets Leonard Fournette <70 yards on 40 carries the past 2 years against the Tide.

Offensive lines build and make running backs and quaterbacks. You guys know that. I havent researched offensive line coach for lsu. I will do that and give an opinion then. My success at fullback years past was determined by my skill and our team offensive line.

There isn't enough context to this quote to know what really happened.

O and Aranda are making the decisions on defense. Probably O gave Aranda the most say. So defensive staff likely weren't included.

Also we don't know if O told the coaches this or Joe did. We all know how Joe likes to control contracts and futures.

It means O is going to let his OC pick his own staff. Seems to be taking a hands off approach to the offense.

I don't even know what his comment is supposed to mean.

In other words, CEO told assistants that Lane Kiffin would determine if they'd stick around next year.

That heavily implies CEO strongly believed Lane Kiffin would be the OC at LSU in 2017. I.e. -- it's such a guarantee that he'll be the OC that assistants needed to wait until he was hired to learn their ultimate fate.

If true, CEO is a genuine fool.

Thank You. This is the take away from this....O had decided LK was the guy and was so sure he had already told everyone....i was for O at first but its becoming harder and harder to believe this will not be a dumpster fire. How people can have all this news of these different situations recruiting and staff wise and not see the trends of bad decision making and or leadership by O i cant understand

I don't know if we can blame the OL coach. There could be a few reasons for the OL play. For one thing, not everyone agrees the OL plays poorly. Perhaps using the Bama game is not a fair gauge. Also, I have read that linemen are playing out of position. That LSU struggles at finding true tackles. If so, this is a recruiting issue that needs time to fix. Then there's the perpetually poor QB play. And all of it may tie into LSUs antiquated scheme. The scheme that works against Missouri but utterly fails every single year against Bama. The scheme that is predictable and does not spread the field. Perhaps the OL was not in a position to succeed if the defense knew what was coming.
