I was just saying something.

I have no idea if Peveto is leaving. I do know that the possibility of losing Feleipe Franks, a recruit that is equally enamored with Cam, is not going to give someone job security that otherwise would be let go.

He isn't a once in a generation 5* recruit and Peveto isn't the kids uncle.

Our kicking game was bad this year. Return game solid, but kicking game was brutal and regressed.

not drawing any correlation here, but the big story today on local sports talk - UT's athletic dept finished in the red by about $3MM

Texas did not finish 3 million in the red, maybe them made 3 million less than last year, but they didn't lose money. The had a $165 million in revenue last year.

You were trying to be a smartass, don't act like you weren't. Feilipe's dads family is from Orange, Texas, which is in EAST TEXAS.

Does Franks give Peveto job security? Probably not, but it helps, and Miles must like something about the man if he brought him back for a second stint.

I'm not blaming Peveto for a kicker missing a 25-yard file goal from straight ahead. I'll blam him for benching Dellahoussaye instead. And the return game was dog shite this past year.

Now, judging by my post, it appears that me being sick has caused me to ornery and get irritated rather quickly. So I'm going back to bed.

I don't know if I'd call our return game solid. We had Magee and White's returns against Kentucky, but other than the kickoff vs Notre Dame, I'm not sure we had much else after that. I remember one solid punt return against Bama. It wasn't like we were routinely returning kicks past the 30 yard line. We just hit one or two big ones.

I wasn't a fan of many of the kickoff decisions either. We used a couple of different kickoff guys, we tried some squibs at odd times. Whatever we tried on a kickoff against Notre Dame gave them the ball at the 40 yard line. Just several head scratchers from the special teams this year.

as was often the case with BDP. Still remember the days of sticking buster davis back to return punts for his awesome fair catch abilities

If they would have put Buster back there sooner, Miles would have two championship rings.

Do you finally agree with me now about what Charlie said? You claimed it was crazy to think everyone wouldn't be thrilled with Smart yet as this thread and others have shown, many arent for the exact reason that Hanny said "Look at the resume, not the name."

No. It's illogical.

AUSTIN, TEXAS — Records show the University of Texas' athletic department finished the 2013-14 academic year in the red for the first time in more than a dozen years.

The powerful athletic program had a $2.8 million shortfall, which came a year after the department saw a nearly $10 million surplus, the Austin American-Statesman reported Sunday. The last academic year the department lost money was 1999-2000.

so, this story from the Statesman is bullshite?

The amount of talent on this campus 2012-2014 does not match up with the number of L's in the loss column. Somebody is not doing their job very well.

2012 NFL Draft
Tharold Simon
Lavar Edwards
Spencer Ware
Keke Mingo
Sam Montgomery
Tyrann Mathieu
Bennie Logan
Kevin Minter
Eric Reid
Chris Faulk
Michael Ford
Brad Wing

*We lost 3 starting D-linemen and 2 DBs and the best linebacker all at once. LSU had to start over there.

2013
Anthony Johnson
Ego Ferguson
Trai Turner
Jeremy Hill
Odell Beckham
Jarvis Landry

*We lost 2 DTs, the starting running back and the two top receivers as juniors. We can recover from losing one lineman. You're essentially starting over again at DT (even though I think we're getting better effort now) and WR. That's a lot of knowledge and experience gone.

2014
Danielle Hunter
Kwon Alexander
Jalen Collins
Jerald Hawkins ???
Vadal Alexander ???

We're losing 2 DEs again and the best linebacker. Rasco was done, but Hunter should have returned leaving LSU with experience, but it's his decision. It hurts nevertheless.

I'm just not sure what the BOS expected. Many predicted it would be a 5-loss season and I believe youth was a part of that prediction.

These guys all played in 2012, minus Badger. Lost 3 games.

That means nothing to me. If many predict a 6-6 season next year, and that's how we finish, does that make it okay?

I really hope that's not true. Not because I'm a Miles defender, but Jesus Christ, what message does that send to other coaches

I mean really, LSU is a great institution of tradition but not quite as storied as Alabama (a la Bear Bryant), Ohio State, or Notre Dame. In all honesty, Les Miles is part of the LSU story so there's no way to put a good face on it.

Whose to say Miles' wasn't interested in UM because he was already aware of the BOS' position before their hand had been revealed publicly. Hell, maybe that's why Saban left when he did.

Who fires the board when they screw up?

The BOS was prepared to bring in a guy had Les bolted. This guy wasn't going to come on board as a HCIW. The poster is just a bit confused
