Unless things go south at Clemson, I'd be surprised if Dabo left Clemson-even for the Bama job.
But I certainly hope Texas spends some time pursuing him and allows us to snatch Herman. Fisher would be a great hire, but Herman seems to have the most upside.

I think Dabo can win at texas for the most part, I don't think he would win a title though. They would allow him to keep hiring top notch assistants. He would bring energy and they would get a skin on the wall. Id take it since that opens the Herman door wide open for us

Why do people always assume stuff like this? Oh look he went to Alabama, he's a good coach so naturally he'll go there when Saban retires, because clearly whoever the AD is at Alabama when Saban retires will only look at Swinney and naturally because he played at Bama, he will no doubt leave a program he's built into an elite title contender to take over for arguably the CFB coaching GOAT. What could possibly go wrong
Seriously, how many guys wind up coaching at their so called "dream job"?
I didn't assume anything, I asked "would he leave"...its a hypothetical.
And he has publicly stated that is his dream job.

With his once in a career Qb leaving after this year, it would be smart for Dabo to move on. Lets get wings on this rumor!

Also would someone really want to follow behind Saban after he leaves Bama. That first coach after Saban leaves will never have his own identity.

That's an excellent point.

he beat a shite team with a come from behind fg. Come on calling that an arse kicking is fricking stupid. That was a Les Miles choke job. We just had to run the ball down their throat and instead we are calling roll out passes when our qb can't do that.
Dabo is a fine CEO but once he makes the wrong hire such as Les miles in 08 when he had crowton and the co dc he is going to be up shite creek. The risk of the CEO is hiring great coaches. LSU/Texas has unlimited budget, but once Dabo gets a bit older he could easily turn les and become too loyal.

based on what? an assumption that because he played at Alabama he'd want that job or they naturally want him right?
Again, how many times have we seen a coach leave one big time college program for his "dream job"? The answer is pretty much never.

link?
and even if he said it, that still doesn't mean he'd take it. Saying X is your "dream" job is one thing. Actually Leaving a great situation, that you built to take over a guy you could never, ever come close to matching in a accomplishment for a notoriously harsh fan base is something else.

What's up with the players threatening to boycott and transfer?
I think they have to try to negotiate with Strong to resign.

Hopefully the texas admin caves to the players. Even if they eventually squash this, this could be enough to hurt their image.
I'm all for painting texas as racist for firing strong despite how badly he sucks

Herman / Aranda !!!

Many of the responses on this thread are just incredible. As in incredibly dumb. Dabo is a fantastic HC and would wreck shop at UT. He's a better fit there in terms of culture and knowing how to run a big program and deal with big boosters and lots of media attention than Herman is. I think Herman is a good to great coach, but he totally spazzed out in the one negative interview he had with Houston local sports radio and embarrassed himself. Dabo is more mature than that and could take UT-level criticism in stride.

Mack Brown, a southern good-ol-boy who knew how to effectively operate a big-time program as a CEO, won a title there and played for a second one.
Think this through.
Of all the coaches out there, who is the MOST like Mack? I think Dabo is a BETTER Mack Brown, and would play for several Natties if he had the reins of a UT-level program.

LSU fans think Dabo is a bad coach for some reason. Its weird.
He's a damn good head coach.

eh right now Dabo has the advantage on Mack and Les because he is rain man enough to hire a good oc and let him do the recruiting to the system. les and mack got stuck in their ways. Dabo has some time before that happens. He is a good CEO but at some point they get stubborn.
Posted on 11/21/16 at 11:12 am to TheCaterpillar
Well part of that is we could have shut clemson down before they got started. Retard Les though managed to choke away a fricking win. Clemson beating a shite LSU team on a last second come back field goal has been the basis of Dabos little acc run.
Dabo is a good ceo now. He looks like the typical Clemson fan.

Texas is worse at this than us
Posted on 11/21/16 at 11:20 am to TexasTiger
Dabo would be a homerun hire for them but he isn't leaving a great situation for that shitshow

But I can't believe that is who they are targeting.
Why? He's done a fantastic job.
