Jerry Meyer of 247 seems to think so. Says if Johnny doesn't make tourney than he's out and Stansbury is "doing everything he can" to get LSU job. You may remember Stansbury got the #6 and #52 rated players in the country in 2017 class out of Baton Rouge. Should we pull for the tank?

All this tells me is i will have to wait at least four years to get a better football HC.

He's the only guy I saw Trent consistently out-coach, I would hope we could do better...I'd rather go young mid-major than old re-tread. We've tried the good recruiting bad coaching template already.

Just imagine Rick Stansburry's 2 LA commits,(Josh Anderson and Mitchell Robinson) ,LSU's 2 commits(Gaylon Alexander and Brandon Rachel) and Skylar Mays in 2017! All 5 guys from LA. That team would be so nasty!

Cheapo Joe Alleva wouldn't pay Fisher or Herman, so why would he pay Donovan?

It's all over the place. At the top end, Calipari, Coach K and Pitino make at or north of $6m a year. Self makes about $5m. Izzo makes over $4m.

JJ makes $1.5m.

I should have put an asterisk at the end of my post which would have indicated that this would be after we fired Alleva and hired someone who knew how to negotiate with a good coach.

If he can be hired cheap and be able to somehow claim Louisiana ancestry, he's a lock.

Meh, I didn't see that. He definitely had a warped recruiting philosophy and seemed to prefer to always play with fewer scholarship players than he was allowed, but I found him to be an average to mediocre bench coach.

The only coach I thought he consistently outcoached here was Stansbury, and that was because Stansbury would not do the simple things to take away the small windows LSU could exploit the have a chance to win that most all other teams did.

For one example, every team LSU played would high hedge on ball screens and it would always bog down Trent's offense right there. Very frustrating to watch play out game after game.

But Stansbury would go under the ball screens and give LSU a shot. Trent beat Stansbury a couple of times with teams who had no business beating a much more talented State team.

We need to go young and energetic if and when.

Give It To Shaq, 10 years & he's already set for life, so his contract shouldn't be that much.
