Why would you all want Saban? He's 74 years old. He was showing signs of losing his dominance in the tail end of his tenure at Bama. He would only be available to coach for a few years before his age truly catches up to him.

Having Saban back as our head coach would immediately help our brand

It would do so much beyond the wins

You get him for four years you’re probably gonna make the playoffs a couple of times who knows maybe when we win a championship

We need to get back to being relevant quick!!!

He would do so much from the vision standpoint of what needs to change at LSU

It’s beyond what your mind maybe you can think about right now

My daughter attends Alabama I know very well all too well the impact he’s had on that university..

He’s much more than a head coach

This, I doubt he comes back, but you know he misses the shite out of it. You don't rise to that level and then get out and not miss it. He misses it, he also loves LSU.

If he did accept the job LSU would stick with him for a while unless he decided to hang it up for good at some point. Honestly, that is probably the type situation LSU needs for reestablish a high level of consistent success.

I cant wrap my head around Saban coming back to coaching considering he quit because of all this NIL stuff. He would still have to deal with that. He has a 16million dollar house in Jupiter Island why come back to BR. Noway he goes back coaching at his age.
If it is for the money will he really be the same Saban.

This “he’s 74” thing is odd to me. Not all 74s are the same.

Pete Carroll is 74.

My mom is 74.

They are far far far far far different in age.

Nick Saban is not a 74 that I worry about.

Sounds like we are convincing someone who knows he’s too old and won’t have his heart 100% into it, with money he can’t refuse. He can come in and do a half assed job and delegate most of the work and long hours he used to put in. Bama wouldn’t be broken, they would laugh at us. They knew the game was changing and he was done with it.

I DO believe, however, that nobody in their right mind immediately says "no" to that kind of offer

Provably a guy who's 75 years old & already has generational wealth & is making millions of dollars a year already working 3 hours a week with no pressure instead of working 18 hours a day with tremendous pressure to win big immediately.

Some have said it wasn’t actually NIL for Saban, but that he’s said he only knows how to do this job one way: unrelenting hard work, 12+ hour days, etc and he doesn’t have that in him anymore.

Now, maybe with the NFL model and a program GM like Thomas that could work, but idk.

Even still, Saban for 4 years at $100M wouldn’t be the worst option for LSU.

Anyone who thinks “Mrs. Terri” has any say in the matter is preposterous

No one is worth that amount.

Let's pretend for a moment that Saban were to return.

He wins one, potentially two, additional titles for LSU.

He retires (again) after rebuilding our program yet again after four years. The next coach that replaces him keeps the LSU machine well-oiled and wins another one or two over the next 10 years (similar to Miles). We then have a good 30+ year run of relevance and multiple national titles.

Would you be happy with LSU spending $25 million of someone else's money a year for four years to have made that happen? I would!

Here’s my take on Saban:

If any other job called him, he wouldn’t pick up the phone. While he is older now, he’s a man with extreme pride and regretted leaving here when he did. Him and Terry loved BR, they know the people in the building (hell he hired most of the staff at one point or another), and most importantly it’s a chance to come back and see if he can make things right here.

Do I think he comes? Probably not. But I think he’s having some hard conversations with himself if we have called with an offer.

So is it getting announced this week like you said before? I saw you said it would be announced this week and then also after the season which makes no sense if it is Saban...
