The successful WVU years behind him with two failing stints at Meechigan and Arizona on his resume... does he take a pay cut to just run an offense?

At this point his best job offer will come from a G5 team for ~$1M a year.

He understands how to get the most out of talent on the offensive side of the ball, especially QB.

At some point you have to pick an offense based on the regular talent the state & recruiting area creates. RichRod could do it.

From what I understand, his entire offense this year at Arizona was to put the best athlete at QB and just run draws.

His offense was all Khalil Tate, but Tate is an absolute freak too so...

Has to be the most balanced offense for a dual threat QB you will ever see statistically though.

Tate averaged about 17 passes for 160 yards per game and about 15 rushes for 150 yards per game.

What did he do at Tulane as OC when they went 11-0 in '98? I remember they had a mobile QB (Shaun King?), but I remember them passing a lot.

Edit: they went 11-0, not 12-0.
I also found this tidbit on Tulane's Wiki page:
Tulane has won nine conference football championships in four different conferences. Its three Southeastern Conference titles are more than seven current members of the SEC: Arkansas, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Missouri, South Carolina, Texas A&M, and Vanderbilt.

If Canada's ego was a problem, RichRod's definitely would be.

^this^

It was an idea to throw out there.

On a serious note, I feel like a lot of the downvotes are coming from dipshit current students born in the late 90’s who have no idea who RichRod is from his successful days...

Also it’s all Rich Rod’s fault that saban is at bama. I will always hate him and his wife for that.

They ran a wishbone spread offense with Shaun King at quarterback and Tommy Bowden as head coach. Lined up in pretty much the same formation for every down with almost no shifts. Defenses had no way to anticipate one play to the next. It was extremely effective and King ran it on the field to perfection.

The problem with that team is that before the season began, my wife, a Tulane alum, got roped into a donation plan in which she pledged a fixed amount for every football win. "What do we have to lose?" we thought.

It was happy days at Tulane for the couple of years Bowden was in town. When he left for Clemson, it was a foregone conclusion that Rodriguez would take over as HC. But Tulane fricked that up by hiring Chris Scelfo. In the end, it turned out to be the best thing that ever happened to Rodriguez because he ended up at WVU. I'd take him as LSU's OC.

King to Dawson was like Rohan to Reed. They were awesome to watch.

He just got fired with sexual harassment allegations. Nobody hiring him this year for sure, and probably not until all the #MeToo stuff fades out of the news
