How does he recruit for LSU, put together a staff, and try to keep some current players if he is coaching the University of Mississippi football team possibly to the middle of January 2026?

EDIT: Disregard. I misread one of these posts. I thought it meant he could finish out coaching Ole Miss through the playoffs, not just the regular season.

Because that’s not how people work. No way in Hell Lane doesn’t want to win that game. How’s it in his new best interest to lose it? To get out of there quicker, to start recruiting quicker? All of that will play itself out. This is what front offices are utilized for in the NIL era.

Zero chance LK, or ANY COACH, would tank a game because they are a rival to their future employer. Come on guys…have you ever played any sport???

Why would Ole Miss agree to letting LK coach the egg bowl if he has an agreement with LSU and it would be in his new best interest to have Ole Miss lose the game?

OM losing the egg bowl has no effect on LSU this year.

If Lane is leaving Ole Miss the Egg bowl will have to be his final game there, unless he’s going to the NFL.

that's not what was said.

Lane wants to coach the Egg Bowl, which would complete the regular season (and give him a 11-1 record).

Interim would get the postseason. And maybe the job.

Letting a potentially disgruntled employee have potential to enact financial damage on your organization is bad management plain and simple. Hurting a new annual sec opponent by keeping them out of the playoffs is definitely in LSUs best interest.

I’m sorry, I don’t call people names or question their intelligence, so I will just stop replying.

Regardless of his choice to leave, this is his players and team.

It’s not that difficult

He's not disgruntled... he simply got a better offer.
Go back and reread the Ole Miss tweet following their meeting. They are imploring fans to celebrate this historic season. That's a chance to go 11-1.

A historic season at LSU is a national title, not a 1 loss regular season.

That's the selling point LSU has that Ole Miss can't match

The team of 1 year mercenary players from the portal. He doesn't care enough about them to stay. Why would he care about the outcome of the egg bowl at all?

I seriously doubt that he would intentionally sabatoge the game, but he he may coach it a bit differently. For instance, be more aggressive and risky decision marking. After all, he literally has nothing to lose.

It would be great if he showed LSU fans loyalty and tank the game. Can LSU give him a bonus to do this because they should.

What is wrong with you? Please go touch grass, take your meds, have a drink, whatever. I absolutely do not understand your obsession with Kiffin tanking Ole Miss on his way out.
