This was basically repeated to ad nauseam in 1999. Except it was "over a $1MM or one of the highest paid coaches"

If this all plays out as written in this thread, this might be the most Kiffin thing ever. He gets 8 extra days to roam the facility lining up transfers from a playoff team. Almost too good to be true.

Chicken, pin this thread to the top so all these other theories can find out what is really happening. We have our coach. It’s time to discuss the other coaching searches.

Hiding in plain sight. Brilliant.

Regardless, this will be quite the story, once the dust settles. Coaching change season never fails to deliver.

It’s funny because Lincoln Riley stole players from Oklahoma and nobody gave a shite lol. I guarantee you if Lane does that, the media will destroy him.

I have avoided posting on this because there is one thing that really doesn't make sense. Why would Ole Miss agree to letting LK coach the egg bowl if he has an agreement with LSU and it would be in his new best interest to have Ole Miss lose the game? If Ole Miss has no power to prevent this scenario, college football may have reached a new low at the hands of agents and money chasing.

I’ve heard that they aren’t able to legally suspend him. They would have to fire him and pay him the buyout. There’s no cause.

Lane is under contract and wants to coach his team in game #12. If ole miss AD says no, do you fire lane and have to pay his contractual buyout or do you suspend him (adding more chaos)?

Nobody who doesn't wear red pants gives a shite if Ole Miss gets screwed.

I also know that the SEC office has been involved.

Why are they involved?

Is that normal procedure when one SEC school hires a coach from another?

Charlie Huff took 30+ players with him to USM this year. Granted, Marshall really fricked him over so not apples to apples.

Is it in LKs best interest and power to intentionally tank the egg bowl? How does anyone know if he intentionally throws this game to benefit his new employer?

It's not the same, I'm just saying that the least of anyone's concerns will be how Ole Miss fares in this transaction. Sumrall will probably take Tulane's entire roster to Oxford when they hire him.

Sumrall may bring 15 players. Maybe.

Most of Tulane’s roster isn’t SEC caliber.

You are correct.

I guess I should have more accurately stated that Sumrall will bring anyone he wants.

While obviously it definitely shouldn’t matter, there’s been some public shaming of Lane already. Hence why Saban had to defend him this morning (thankfully).

My hope though is that it fades like the Brian Kelly stuff, I just think it’s crazy that LSU is always the bad guy when they do things every other school does.

For sure, and he’d plug some depth issues with upperclassmen.
