Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones may not have to make a decision on Jason Garrett after all at season's end.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the New York Giants could be a player for Garrett's services since both sides have shown mutual interest in the past.

“First of all, it is his preferred destination if he can’t stick with the Cowboys," Rapoport said Sunday. "Second, back in 2014, the Giants were trying to decide, should they fire Tom Coughlin. My understanding is they would have fired Coughlin if they could get Jason Garrett. Instead, he signed an extension, the Giants kept Coughlin.

Thought I just heard Garrett s camp put this out for leverage.

If he doesn't make playoffs or backs in and loses, he is gone
Also don't think Jerry would care if he goes to the giants, in that case

NFL teams are fricking retarded if this is true. Jason Garrett is just not a great coach. idk how many times he has to prove that for people to see.

Today he decided to kick a FG on 4th and 7 inside the New England 12 yard line down 7 with 6 mins left. Wind was blowing like 30 mph in the face of NE and the Cowboys still had all 3 timeouts. Cowboys had a ton of trouble moving the ball all game with the conditions and this was their only shot to tie the game up. He kicked a FG knowing he needed a TD. Insanity

Trying to decide if Garrett or Jim Caldwell is the least talkative hc I've ever seen on the sideline

I would fire him tomorrow. There is still time in the season to salvage something. Why waste the rest of the year? We all know what’s gonna happen. Just fire him and see what an interim coach could do.

As a Cowboy hater, I've loved the Garrett era in Dallas. It's extremely amusing and satisfying to watch them do JUST good enough every year to keep him around, but not bad enough to fire him.

The right coach would be rolling with the pieces they have though, don't know why Jerry doesn't see that. God bless him for all he does for my University, but Jerry needs to keep away from coaching decisions at any level.

The Giants - or any other team - would be idiots to take a flyer on Garrett.

I think everyone of you are wrong. I bet he goes somewhere else and succeeds. History has proven the Cowboys need a new owner/GM not a new coach.

This is probably true, but let’s consider an alternate reality where Jerry has hamstrung Garrett, making him look like a bad coach, then goes to another team and has the training wheels taken off and becomes an all time great coach
