This sounds like a disaster waiting to happen. Did Cristobal have full autonomy?

I believe so.

Mario didn’t hire all former Miami Canes players though to his staff.

Bay Area college head coaching jobs don’t have hot seats. Their Alumni are too lay back and focused on making money.

I guess I overestimated the allure of the Oregon job. The fact that they offered Justin Wilcox the job but he turned them down to stay at Cal of all places is telling. So is the fact that their plan B was Dan Lanning.

From the outside looking in Oregon looks like a no brainer if you're into west coast football. You could go there and dominate the conference if you can beat other Pac 12 power houses like Utah, Washington and Stanford. USC might be good every now and then but it never lasts. They find a way to screw it up.

Fun fact but Wilcox was DC for Tennessee when they had too many men on the field in 2010...

14 “Oregon Greats” wrote a letter asking for a candidate with a connection to the past. I am not convinced it was a “good faith” offer from Rob Mullens. Lanning was the first interview reported and it was reported it went well.

Fire Mullens. Bullet dodged but that is embarrassing.

1080 guys are talking about how the offer was backhanded. You’re going to see more on this and will think Mullens is shrewd.

Unless something drastic has changed, Lanning is in Athens through the Dawgs' CFP run

They could have told him not to let the door hit him on the arse like Bama did to Kiffen. I don’t know that Notre Dame asked Kelly to stick around or would have allowed it if he had wanted to.

That says more about Lanning and his midwestern values. He wants to finish it out.

What a moron if true. You are gonna turn down a top 10-15 job with significant money for Cal???

Bruins Online is saying Chip Kelly was offered too and declined.

At least they’re reporting he had to pay back some of his buyout.

Rob Mullens had to appease a bunch of boosters that sing “Coming Home” and want Pacific Northwest try-hard 3*s and a coach that bleeds green & yellow.

He gave them offers they had to refuse.

I believe I heard it from you first (last night) that Chip also turned down the Ducks. Nice scoop!

One of the Husky Boards has an “insider” that believes Oregon hit a “grand slam.”

Yeah, I am not trusting HH. That place is a college football gem but I am not trying decode what it actually means.
