Regarding Riley

My biggest and really only concern with hiring Lincoln Riley is this. Who is the Defensive Coordinator going to be? Riley knows offense. Riley knows QBs. But his defenses in the past have been shaky at best. I wanna know who the DC will be and I want to make sure Riley doesn’t interfere.

I just can’t seem him being retained this offseason. No offense to Jones. He has done well towards the end of this season. Just don’t see him being retained.

I doubt Riley has a major opinion on who the DC should be. He’d be the driving force if there was one.

1. Why not? He’s a damn good recruiter and offensive coach. The guys he can get here are far better than the ones he gets in Oklahoma

My only small concern is that he has primarily had success with dual threat QBs. Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, Jalen Hurts. Also, fitting that physical traits are his so-far, less successful 5-star QBs, Spencer Rattler and Caleb Williams.
Neither Walker Howard or Arch Manning fit his current offensive system.

That's the key, for me. If he would have gone to the Dallas Cowboys, he wouldn't be running his current dual threat QB system, so he would tailor it for his talent.

You need a coach who values defense to succeed in the SEC . Riley does not value defense . Defense WINS championships .

Did you guys miss the Tulane, Kansas and even last weeks Baylor game. It was awful. He’s clueless as to defense and that won’t work well in Baton Royge. I’ll pass. His record stands well because he’s in the worst conference in the power 5. He will never win a natty at OU
