Interesting article - 2016

He probably shouldn’t have forced his first offensive coordinator at Ole Miss, Noel Mazzone, to run a scheme — the Southern California offense — that Mazzone wasn’t familiar with.

bullshite. In, fact total bullshite. W pay well and play in front of 100k fans, and could be a stepping stone for a lot of OC's.

What all of you are missing is that it is the prerogative of the HC in all CFB and Pro FB programs to craft and offensive and defensive philosophy that they believe it. This is "see spot run" simple. Seems like O and Ensminger want to run a pro-style offense and jell together. They both know if they don't win a lot, they are out. If O brings in Gilbert, and does not win, makes no difference, he is just as out.

you mean those into the "groupthink" thing on here knows this. people that think for themselves know no such thing.

I wouldn't. Who wants to sign up to have their career ruined?

And why does Orgeron want so much input into the offense? He's his own worst enemy, and I don't understand why he doesn't get that.

He's paranoid and knows that offense is his weak point. He probably can't tolerate having a stranger that he can't control in charge of the offense. Ensminger is one of his boys and is completely under his control. O's just too paranoid and bone headed to realize the consequences. He can also use Ensminger as a scape goat much easier than a top tier OC. If Ensminger is promoted to OC, it would be apparent that O is starting to run scared.

Don’t pretend all HCs just sit there without providing input.

Ed O ain’t all HCs. He’s a fricking DL coach who basically said he would recruit motivate and let his coordinators handle Xs and Os

Very few are granting interviews

And of the one or two that did, want a written agreement granting autonomy to run their system. O wont agree, "cuz he da hed corch, and do tings hid way"

Or could be a step back for them when we fail.
Meddling coach + new starters at every major skill position + terrible schedule. 2018 isnt going to be fun.

I think it is quite reasonable for someone to look at that situation and say, "Nah I'll stay here 1 more year".

you would be a fool not to accept the OC job at LSU. you assume that would ruing his career; bull shite. win games and you are looking at serious money and a HC offer or two.

He probably regrets treating all of his players and staff members as if they were Warren Sapp — the big, grizzled defensive lineman Orgeron coached at Miami in the 1990s.

He probably shouldn’t have banged a bass drum up and down the hallways while his assistant coaches were trying to work, shouldn’t have meddled in position groups — like quarterback — that he knew nothing about.

He probably shouldn’t have forced his first offensive coordinator at Ole Miss, Noel Mazzone, to run a scheme — the Southern California offense — that Mazzone wasn’t familiar with.

yet he's learned from his mistakes.

that article deserves its own thread for "O should be able to name his QB" crowd. He's freely admitted he knows nothing about that

Most head coaches have some expertise that makes their input relevant. Not O. He just wants an OC who will do what he wants to do.

To go further - word is out that this gig does not come without meddling and that's it's a bad job under the current regime. A lot of toxicity around our program.

I think that's pretty obvious and really the only justifiable reason why SE would even be considered. Hey, it's O's job. If he wants to screw it up then let him. You have to let him to do what he thinks is best for the program.

I don't buy this. I guess it depends on what you consider established. With the money LSU pays coordinators, I think you garner interest from a lot of folks.

No they aren't my source. Canada and O did have something go down. Canada told O that he was a moron more or less. Aranda wanted out too but took the money. And I can tell you LSU doesnt view him as a future HC. They don't think he recruits well enough.

The truth hurts.

I'm surprised Rex Tillerson still has a job.
