As for Brady’s replacement, another name has surfaced: Kris Richard. Richard played at Southern California when Orgeron was an assistant there, and he’s looking for work after losing his passing-game coordinator role with the Dallas Cowboys on Jason Garrett’s departed staff. LINK

Lol

Should someone tell Scott?

so the writer doesn't realize Richard is a defensive coach

it took me a minute

It's like he doesn't even TRY to follow the Coaching Changes board.

I mean it is kind of confusing given that defensive passing game coordinator is a relatively uncommon/unique position, but I would expect one of the lead LSU beat writers to know better than this.

Especially given how people perceived Joe Brady and the importance/urgency of replacing him.

the key thing to notice is the writer saying "another name has surfaced"

which means he's "reporting" sh*t that just pops into his head as "news"

I'll cut Rabalais a little slack since Richard's title was DBs Coach/Passing Game Coordinator

I could cut someone posting on a message board some slack for that...but its his job. You can't even be bothered to google the guy you're mentioning for the job? That's just lazy but a perfect example of where the advocate is these days I guess.

For the most part, I like Scott ... he’s typically a pretty positive/pro-LSU writer, not a negative Nancy that tries to stir the pot, but considering replacing Aranda/Brady is arguably the biggest LSU football story post championship, I do find it to be a pretty large error for him to not be aware that Richard is a defensive coach.

It makes me wonder if he’s even asked anyone about Brady’s possible replacement.

And as Rex pointed out, considering it is practically impossible for Richard to “surface” as a possible candidate to replace Brady, it leads one to believe he just flat out made that up out of thin air.

Scott is just pretty bland, he's never really offered much in the way of unique insight while covering the team, just very generic stuff. Now he can't even be bothered to do a little bit of reporting on a large staff hire?

He isnt the only one, jordy and tbob made the same mistake when discussing the job opening a couple days ago. Had to re-listen to it to make sure i didnt misunderstand.

This is where I'm at - the Cowboys really have an awkward title there for a DB coach/co-DC (without saying co-DC).

how are you cutting a paid journalist slack for not only mentioning a defensive guy for the job but strongly implying he's a name someone sourced you for that job? He got busted coasting on his job.

It's just a little slack.

I'm sure he used the same sources for the DC search and I have no doubt Richard's name was mentioned in those conversations.

Almost certainly.

Scott still deserves scorn for popping off about Will Wade while he was suspended last year. He made a comment when Javonte was reinstated and spoke to the media, “and Will Wade is still hiding”.

Will Wade did exactly what he needed to do to keep his job at LSU, and LSU is better off for it. We know that Rabalais was Alleva’s leak when Alleva wanted something put out in public (see Miles needs to finish strong in 2015 after Bama). I’m sure Rabalais is sad that he now that he is not the AD’s go to guy.

Alleva is fired.
Will Wade is still coach and has LSU undefeated and in first place again.

Check mate.

He definitely has a voice for newspaper. I nearly have a seizure every time he's on 104.5fm trying to complete a sentence.
