My question for the guys who are 100% against coach O even if he wins out. What specifically do you see happening to this program if O is hired:

A) program declines lower than Miles era
B) Program remains at at the level it was during Miles era
C) performance improves but to a lesser degree than it would with another hire

I have no particular dog in the race. I think theres about 4 guys out there who would be great hires.

A is most likely.

We would see recruiting stay about the same, maybe a little improvement. I think this program would slowly start to unravel after the luster of O wears off. Players will not buy into the ra, ra attitude forever.

With nobody to check O, I could see LSU be put on a USC type probation. Once again, our head coach will not out coach anyone. After the top flight coordinators leave, he'll have to replace and if he makes a bad hire then LSU will be a .500 team with O. He's not qualified for this job!

B if he can keep top coordinators, A if not. In other words, should have just let Les play out his contract if you're going to give it to O.

Is anyone really 100% against O? I mean, if we strike out on the Top 10-15 guys, O would be the next best shot I guess.

But, in ANY case, if O is hired in any HC situation then A.

Like above, if O was the choice, you should have never fired Miles. He is not head coach material long term. He does have a chance of keeping the current quality for a few years, so something like 3-4 losses/year, but if that happens for 2 or 3 years, then the program will quickly fade after that.

Consider that O is producing record offense with a guy who hasn't called plays in 15 years and who tRant says is washed up

His ceiling is 8-9 wins a year imo, the same as the guy we just paid 10 mil to go sit on his couch.

Hiring O is settling for an easy hire politically.

No one knows for sure if SE even wants the OC job. He's been through the meat grinder before. At his age, he may rather remain TE coach. Also, all of his play calling is fresh right now. Not many tendencies to defend. Once the SEC West has been through the batting order, you might see those record setting offensive displays start to wane.

Answer to OP: A, and I'm not an anti "O" guy, just think all this talk of him getting the job if he wins tonight is foolishness. Let the season play out and evaluate.
