Remember, Herman was gonna take the South Carolina job last year until the shite down their leg at home vs. The Citadel. He told his circle that the job appeared to be a bigger rebuilding job than he originally imagined. He elected to stay put. Lsu is much closer to making national noise than UT. We have a more talented roster. No matter the amount of $ UT has, they're only gonna pay him so much. I don't think the figure would be that much more significant. It's not just money, it's what a coach wants. There are positives and negatives in both jobs. Guy might be in Columbia, SC if not for one loss.

There is a very real possibility that USC, Texas, Notre Dame, AND Oregon will be hiring this year.

...go ahead and panic

...and LSU has a better roster than all of those teams. Depends what herman values more. A loaded roster or a slightly more loaded checkbook.

If Herman or fisher or not available I wouldn't overlook aranda. He is going to be a head coach soon and he's young and widely respected. Lsu probably won't go the route of hiring a coordinator as it's definitely a bigger gamble than hiring another head coach but I would rather roll the dice on him then hire somebody like fedora or worse.

and if that mattered, then all of those teams would be ranked in the top 5, but they aren't because that doesn't mean shite.

know one can compete with Phil Knight, and Oregon runs that offense...just saying Herman would probably be a great fit with the ducks

Herman will pursue whatever it is that allows him to realize his ultimate dream and I have no clue what that might be. Further, LSU has an interim HC who could make things interesting

If ND is looking, then I hope LSU would give serious consideration to Brian Kelly. Joe should be putting out feelers to his people at least right now. ND and Brian Kelly aren't a great fit but he did get them to the NC game a few years ago.
