Houston Nutt
Ruffin McNeil(I think he is a good coach and ECU made a bad move firing him)
Mark Mangino(think what you want but he made KU a contender and they haven't been the same since he left)
Tommy Bowden
Ed Orgeron
Frank Wilson

Why would Bowden return with his tail between his legs?

I don't think any FBS head coach, even if they are in a lesser conference like the Sun Belt, would make that move. If they are any good, bigger jobs will open soon.

Maybe, but the only sunbelt coaches who have ever moved to P5 were Freeze, Mahlzan and Petrino and they were special cases. Why hasn't anyone looked at Satterfield or Brohm? What will one more winning season do really? Same thing with most of the schools left in C-USA. Still it's a rebuilding job (although we're not the mess we were in 2011 or 2007) and some coaches may not be eager to undergo another after just doing one.
That said, there are 2 variables that would make any AD leery of really any sitting head coach. 1)Who are they recruiting? Are they dumpster diving ACT scores? That won't work at some schools 2)Did they have a plus QB? Can they coach without one? (see Hudspeth).

None of those guys will get a phone call; and for good reason.

If they could get a Lincoln Riley, that would be a homerun. He would only be there for 2-3 years tops. But that's the kind of hire Tulane needs to make.

You have to ask yourself do you want to help people?

Tulane does not lose any players through attrition at all.

They may not be the answer, but boy they sure could recruit the hell out of Louisiana! If anyone could harness all of the LSU leftovers in Louisiana, you would be a perennial Top 25 team...

So I'm a knucklehead to give an opinion as to why Tulane shoulda held on to CJ? Who else are they going to get? Really? He's a coach that has NFL ties, along with local ties. Tulane will always be a complete turd of a program, because the 15 or so "fans" that "support" the home team believe they should compete with the big boys. In reality, the boosters need to realize what they had in CJ. It's never going to change with them.

No, you're a dumbass because for months you argued that Tulane wouldn't fire CJ because Tom Benson wouldn't allow it. That argument never made any sense for a variety of reasons. Benson has fired plenty of failing Saints coaches, he invested in Tulane now, why wouldn't he want a coach fired if he's failing.
Then when Tulane did fire CJ you just said "Tom Benson is racist" didn't acknowledge how wrong you were, just spewed some dumb shite. You never even made an argument for why Tulane should have kept CJ. But now that you are giving your argument for keeping CJ I'll call you a dumbass for that too.

I don't know who they will get but they'll do better than CJ. He's a bad head coach not sure how NFL ties are supposed to help that.
They didn't have much with CJ. Worst case scenario we get Frank Wilson who is an upgrade over CJ.

I agree, that's why I said he's probably the worst case scenario

Quit being a pussy. It's amazing that I made a joke about TB being a racist and fools like yourself get a rise about some dopey forum. Good grief man, lighten up. I gave my opinion and i was wrong. Ok,so who the F made you king? Honestly, what difference does it make? Tulane will always be a joke of an athletic program. They accept to be continuously piled drived, yet get a check by getting their brains beat in. Personally, they have absolute ZERO business being a D-1 program in any sport. They are on a Nicholls st / SELA level. So again, scratch your crotch, smell the fingers and see if it smells like a girls locker room.
