Tom Herman's overachieving Houston team at home
Losing to Navy and SMU? I would call that underachieving. How can a team that was ranked #6 in the country lose Navy and SMU and struggle with Tulsa and UCF be considered an overachiever?

You yourself, said how shitty a team SMU has been over the years. You posted his overall record, and I was pointing out that the overall record really may not be as bad as would appear when you consider the teams he has played. 6-14 and played six ranked teams. Take out those teams and I wonder what his record may have been.

However, one win against a ranked mid-major does not support the claim that he is this great coach in the making.
I didn't say to hire the guy. I said if your last two choices for head coach of LSU are Tom Herman and Chad Morris it should be a no-brainer to hire Chad Morris in my opinion.

I think a Chad Morris is a hell of a coach. Great tactician that could run a high profile program. The only issue is he doesn't have enough skins on the wall.
Yet LSU would hire Orgeron???

CEO has four national championship rings. The next one he wins he will have decide whether to wear it on his thumb or start on the other hand.

6-10...He would be 6-10 against non-Power 5 teams, including a loss to FCS James Madison.
In short, it's nothing impressive.

As a dline coach. His ring is the equivalent of Larry Porter's

Oh, so even if he wasn't playing ranked teams, he would not have replaced a loss with a win. OKAY !!!

that's not stopping some ppl from clamoring for Orgeron...

Forget the down votes. I 100% agree with you. Of course, how good he'll become remains to be seen, but he's definitely been impressive so far.

sometimes it's more about the man than it is about the resume. Sometimes you have to look beyond the resume and make a projection based on the man himself. Maybe this guy fits into that category. That's what interviews are for.

Based on 1 head to head game?

If you somehow got that from the post you replied to, why didn't you also get this?
quote:
He has played TCU and Baylor both years. Including those two teams he has faced 6 ranked teams(TCU was not ranked this year). The last time he played a ranked team, he won against the #11 team in the country. Not too bad for someone who coaches at SMU.

and the 5 times before that he lost.
And that 1 game you pointed out was the head to head vs Houston.

It is called improving your program. Better than winning the first one last year and losing all the rest.
He also went 2-10 last year and is 4-4 this year. Again that shows his program is progressing and not regressing.

I know SMU had a couple losing seasons before he took over, but before that they were a consistent 7-8 game winning program. 4-4 isn't exaclty vastly esceeding the program's limitations. June Jones went 8-5 in his second season and the team was in way worse shape when he took over.
Anyway, the way you haev talked about Tom Herman, it is crazy you are into Cam Morris.

I was skeptical of Morris, but after hearing him locally interviewed a half dozen times and the way they've played, he's won me over
He's very down to earth, is an offensive genius, and knows the texas HS coaches like the back of his hand
I would be fine with him, however this is only if Fisher and Herman say no

taking a team that has never known success and making them successful is the definition of success.

Chad Morris.
youre a few weeks late bro, but good thinking..
i find it comical that people denounce his high school success, yet 2 successful head coaches in the SEC west are former Head High School coaches..
He would be on my short list.. Not Holgorson or Mora
