I must have missed it and admit I didn't search like I should have before posting. I try to check this board and couple of times per day and didn't recall ever seeing his name.
Again, like I said, he is A LOT better than his SMU record shows. He may not be the guy for LSU right now, but he will be a successful coach at a power 5 program in the next few years. The high school coaches in Texas are apparently very sold on him.

i posted it a couple weeks ago as my dark horse candidate.
My thing is, if we think he he be successful at another power 5 school then why not hire him now?.. Why wait?. he has already proven that he is a very talented coach.

I tend to agree; however, my only hesitation is the fact that college football is really won in January and February on the recruiting trail. I don't know that we've had an adequate sample size to evaluate his recruiting ability yet. He currently has a roster consisting of only Texas recruits, the only such roster in the nation. I wonder how he would do on the national scale.
