He has been OC at Clemson and Arizona State
Look. He might work out if hired. But NOTHING in his resume says, "ready for major college HC".
Being a HC at a school like LSU requires so much more that 1 year in such a position is worthless in terms of information. Hell. Brady's one year ONLY tells us he can coach offense. I wouldn't have called it "ready to be HC" based on it.

so if it were kiffin or napier...who would you choose? Knowing that saban picked kiffin.

he didnt fail at clemson. his first year the offense improved big time. Him and Dabo didnt see eye to eye on some things and Dabo was told he had to make changes. Quit repeating that crap
at ASU...he did well in the 1 year there, good enough that he was asked to stay on when the new regime was hired but he left to be ULL coach.

everything in his resume screams superstar and ready for D1 job.
and he is number 3 on my list at best. But he is a superstar in the making.
To even bring up Curley Hallman and the differences today vs then and the diffrences between the two is fricking laughable and shows how clueless some of you are.
Curley had a losing record his 2nd year and took over a program crom Jim Carmody that had them steadily winning 6 or 7 games (11 game schedule). He did elevate them the first year there but his second season was below the average and his 3rd was just average. All while having Farve.
not even close the same as napier taking over a program coming off 3 straight losing seasons and a program coming off probation. he then built it into a fricking powerhouse that it is today.
comparing hallman to napier is like comparing hallman to urban at utah, to jamie chadwell today and to fickel today.
its fricking stupid.

There are 110+ D1 schools(to include the one he coaches at)
He may even deserve to step UP from ULL.
I don't dislike the guy.

They arent in their conference? did he not have them ranked last year? did he not go 11-2, 10-1, & currently 5-1? losing a total of 2 conference games in last 2 years?
that is a powerhouse for the sunbelt.
Yall are stupid as frick if you expect him to be even cincy. they dont have the resources for it. You want to see him beating the teams with similar resources and rising up and beating teams with more occasionally like they did with Iowa State last year.
There are others I would prefer but people are stupid to just dismiss Napier.

He's not saying there is a Farve of ULL. He's saying Hallman was successful at a small school like Napier, with the exception that Hallman did it with the the benefit of Farve whereas Napier hasn't had an all world QB.
Which is the point of the question "who's the favre at ull". If Hallman was only good because of one player, and Nappier never had "that one" player, why is Nappier considered a coach the likes of Hallman? Sounds like a good coach to me.

I'm not saying he can't coach. I'm saying he should be a longshot for the same reason that the next CFO of Microsoft probably won't come from a company that has a market cap of 20 million.
That's not dismissing him. It's just dealing with reality of TODAY. Maybe one day, he'll have the resume for the big job.

I don’t need him to be the greatest offensive mind on earth, but there is a pretty big gap between a guys like Riley or Jimbo (Jimbo calls his own plays) and O who doesn’t know enough about the Xs and Os to make good hires.

LSU's proven strategy is to hire a successful coach from the Power 5 conferences.
Except for that whole thing where 2 of the last 4 weren't
