It’s Jimbo, Riley, Day, or Chip Kelly. Anyone that blows off possibly attaining Day is forgetting the Burrow connection. Day obviously values Burrow’s opinion.

How is it Fickell on the list? We really don't know anything solid except speculation, just like all the other candidates.

ETA I can understand Freeze and Meyer given some their history.

Fickell and Franklin were early outs. Neither seriously considered it. And Franklin has now played his way out of our interest. So the feeling is now mutual.

My biggest concern with Fickell, Riley too, is that they may have interest, maybe even a lot.
If Woodward is able to get either to say 'yes' what if they get cold feet and back out at the last moment?? Don't want to end up getting a 3rd or 4th choice in the search, which also creates a lot of unnecessary added drama. I just hope Woodward can hit it out of the park with his first choice!

This isn't speculation. I was told Oct 19th via text that he wasn’t interested in the job.

ETA: this could change. He has a big family. ~12M a year can go a long way in Baton Rouge. As things evolve, so can this list.

Is there any idea of how LSU and Woodward feel about the chances Riley says yes? Have we gotten any feedback?

Why is Brady off the list?

Because he isn’t qualified for this job. He was beneficiary of Burrow, Chase, Marshall, Jefferson and Clyde. What makes him such a great coach when everyone says O lucked into Burrow and company. It’s the same for Brady. And E called the plays anyways, Brady was just making suggestions for E to consider

I bet only Fickell got a call from that list anyways, but no way he leaves the Midwest area. He'll take the first big 10 job offered.

No way.

He will only leave for a top Big 10 job or Notre Dame. He MIGHT take Wisconsin, but I'd still be surprised, and I don't think Wisconsin is going to open this year anyway.

You can go ahead and add Joe Brady to the list. He may not survive the year at Carolina.

Don’t count Fickell out. Remember, Saban was a Midwest guy, too. Fickell is one of the two best candidates available and Woody knows that. He’s swinging for the fences.
\

Saban is from West Virginia and his coaching resume took him all over the country and he was far from a "midwest guy".

Fickell was born in Columbus, Ohio, played at Ohio St. and then coached at Ohio St. for 16 years until he became the head coach at Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Saban and Fickell are in completely different worlds in terms of their allegiance to a particular geographic region.
