Seems as though Brent Pry was offered the job, I think the hold up is that Penn State is countering to try to keep him.

The common number that I'm reading is $1.25 million with a giant increase in assistant pay.

Who didn't see that coming?

I was told the Monday after Hud's firing on Sunday that Pry was interviewing. If he really intended to take the job, I would have expected it to be done by now.

Odd that a top 10 program coordinator would take a job that has never in its history had a head coach leave for a better job.

So I expected that it was a leverage situation. ULL's AD has to know this.

Real World.... who cares!

New coach will be impressed with newly expanded stadium holding 40,000.

With only 9,000 in attendance

While this statistic is probably concerning for someone considering the job, if you look more in depth, it's not as much of a dead end job as it seems.

It certainly used to be when we had our old administration. But the newer administration has been supportive of athletics and because of that, we have some great facilities for a G5 school, and a great athletic budget for sun belt standards with the potential for it to grow even more with success.

This administration has only had two head coaching hires since it's been around. And the first coach (Bustle) had a huge hole to dig us out of with not a whole lot to work with. Hud then came in and built on it before he started to burn bridges and his shtick started to wear thin. But we're still in a position where a coach can come in and find success with the foundation that Bustle and Hud laid out.

I still think Pry will get done. I don't think they're too worried about the 20th. I think Penn State is much more concerned about it and I think part of the hold up is trying to have him finish his recruiting before early signing day.

If that's so, then all you gotta do is win. You can start that by not scheduling SEC and ACC teams

I never said our athletic budget is that strong that we don't need some money games

But it has potential to grow with sustained success.

the longer it takes, the more I feel uncomfortable with Plan B. If Pry changes his mind, we could be screwed.

I think he's staying put. PSU can easily give him a raise well above our top end and sell him on the prospect of landing a better job in a year or 2. His counterpart on offense landed the Mississippi State job. Another season or two of solid defense and he could go after something similar.

There's also some chatter out there about Billy Napier.

from a baw on RP

quote:

I've confirmed everything I'm about to say.

Brent Pry is your new head football coach.
The announcement will NOT come
Tomorrow. Tentatively scheduled for Monday. (You announce bad news on Friday anyway). He is recruiting state championship and will not screw Franklin, his friend and mentor. He will most likely be coaching in their bowl game as well.

Base salary will be $1.1 million. The delay was a rejected base salary of $900k that Pry's camp turned down. The contact will include several incentives for wins and various achievements. Length and buyout were also a point of contention, and are being addressed now. It will not change the status of his agreement. My source said "he will end up getting what he wants".

This is not speculation. 100% rock solid.

I'm very happy and you should be too. This may not be the splash we were looking for locally, but nationally, especially in the biggest media market in the country, this will be ducking huge.

Onward.

ULL plays Bama next year.

Will be quite a dilemma for a large chunk of the fan base on who to root for.

Football Scoop just tweeted that Billy Napier had been offered the position.

Chris Karpman is reporting Arizona State offensive coordinator Billy Napier has now been offered the Louisiana Lafayette head job. Will update…
