He's not going to tell anyone he's leaving until it's all said and done. He'd be an idiot to say anything to anyone. As of right now, he's the coach at Alabama. Until he signs a contract with another team, he's not going to say anything.
At best for Bama, he's leveraging all of this for some big Bama concessions in his new extension. At worst, he's keeping it quiet until it's official.
If he's going, Saban doesn't want it to be shown that he made a deal while another coach was still in charge, and that is understandable. He also told tons of players in Miami he wasn't leaving just before he left. What do people expect him to say to them?
"Yeah, I am leaving, but please don't tell anyone?"
Of all people not to tell it would be AJ. Kid loves attention.
