If LSU were to make a change, this guy would be my #1 choice. he is by FAR the winningest coach in Northwestern history, is only 40 yet already has 10 years experience as a head coach, and is a fiery guy with teams who play crisp, disciplined football.

Forget Jimbo, fly up to Illinois and offer to double his salary and don't take no for an answer until he's your new head coach.

If LSU fans are this intolerant towards a 2-game losing streak, they will hate Pat Fitzgerald.

He has done a fantastic job at Northwestern though. They are having a very good season. Historically though, his teams there have been prone to the 4-5 game spray fart.

People said that when it was Archer, Hallman, DiNardo, etc.

You seriously going to compare LSU to Northwestern?

I like Fitz. The biggest question mark on him would be could he recruit against the big boys down here?

Yes because Northwestern is where LSU was before Saban and can very easily fall right back to 6-8 win totals with any coach. My point is Miles has done a great job as has Fitz, but people seem to think LSU was a national brand in football in the 80's and 90's, which is was not.

He's done well but how many "big wins" does he have there?

Seems like a guy who racks up wins against bad teams. Not hard to do playing in the Big 10.

LSU has zero chance to pull Pat away from Northwestern.

So minor bowls or missing bowls occasionally and 6-8 wins is not where LSU was before Saban?

Oh yeah the seldom NYD bowl with no conference championships either.

Seems like they are the same place.

LSU was always a sleeping giant with the amount of in state talent and no other big program in the state. The resources available to LSU are far greater than that at NW.

I am not disagreeing that there are more resources, but the results are the same.

Even in 1999 LSU was a very good program historically that was just going through a down cycle.

Northwestern is a bottom feeder with an all-time losing record. They are the Vandy of the Big 10.

I know of no one Who thinks that and it doesn't matter anyway. LSU is a national brand now however, that is what matters.

Fitzgerald is one of only three coaches in school history to guide Wildcat football teams to three consecutive winning seasons and the first since Ara Parseghian coached the Wildcats to winning years from 1958-1960; Fitzgerald's .549 winning percentage at NU is also the highest since Parseghian.
