With Aranda & Kiffin/Sark or some other superstar OC. My concern, as is most rational concerned fans, is what happens every time a coordinator bounces?

Another thing, the rational crowd doesn't blame Alleva for not getting Herman or Fisher. We blame him for not having the foresight to know that we probably wouldn't. That "agreement" stuff they floating is an indictment of Alleva. He actually went into the final weekend waiting on the outcome of a TCU/UT game to see if he'd be able to get his coach. I'd rather "the agreement" be made up and him tell us "frick it, I wanted Ed the whole time".

I blame Alleva for not actually conducting a nationwide coaching search for an elite head coaching position.

To be honest, as pissed as I was, it's not all bad. I think worse case scenario is Ed flounders around the 8-4 mark for 2-3 years, recruits like a mofo and leaves the cupboard full the next HC who will be hired by the next AD

There are 5 elite coaches. We offered the only one potentially available. Please don't tell me Fedora and Gundy are elite. They're not.

"Why hiring Ed Orgeron was the only choice LSU could make"
LINK

And some reacted like 12 years old when I said this.

There are TWO proven elite coaches.. Saban and Meyer. No one else has proven a goddamn thing to even be in this category.

Well, this is actually true. Harbaugh and Peterson are close, but they don't approach Urban yet. Saban in a category of his own.

Just playing devils advocate here, but who else? Who else would you magically expect them to find out of nowhere?

Nah, but they have more proven track records as head coach. Still, neither were worth 5 year deals with burdensome buyouts. Just my 2¢.

Correct. But still not worthy of this job. I'd rather roll with O. It'll be a massive failure or a massive success. Either way we'll know quickly and we can adjust accordingly. Hiring one of those would require more $ and worse...more guarantees. This is like a friends with benefits situation
