Saban won the 2003 SEC & BCS, in a year when UGa was #2, beating them twice, the second time by landslide because LSU had improved immensely as the season dragged on, while UGa was about the same all the way thru..

Saban won the 2001 SEC, over #2 Tenn, whom was all but headed to the Rose Bowl to absorb a beatdown by that Miami monster..

In 2005, Miles won the West, in a year where LSU was as good or better most weeks than the UGa team that annihilated them in Atlanta, but the 10 straight weeks played/no-bye factor was huge there, in a year where Tex and USC were a slight cut above, thus little disappointment sans possible SEC crown..

But, the last two years now, LSU has been every bit as good or better than the eventual BCS Champ more weeks than not, and are on the verge of pulling an O-fer in terms of hardware..

Championship caliber head coaches put skins on the wall in years that they have the best of it..they maximize when they have the goods!!

Miles is on the verge of nada to show for having the best team in the land most of the last two years, with a team that is sloppy, undisciplined, and doesn't get better in Novembers(where teams under the Carrolls, Sabans,etc..tend to shine)..

The current "player's coach" has a team full of club-hopping players that at most times appear more interested in styling than actual substance.

He and his DC are Midwest hardheads that show little in adjusting on the fly, or reacting to real-time game statistics and circumstance, rarely subbing and rotating to run an gauntlet, and pigheadedly using the same gameplan and schemes week after week..

Stanley's subordinate nice guy and Gil Brandt recommendation, isn't an SEC-type HC, is better suited for Big-10 or Big-12.

P.S. I never boarded the bandwagon, and was as PO'ed at Stanley for the announcement of his hire, as I was at Saban and his body language about the plane he was so obviously late to catch that morning in Orlando.

You're the one losing out, not us, no need to flame. If you can't enjoy the season, with your wining "we were two games away" from winning the MNC that's your problem. We could have easily been "four games aways" as well. That's college football, injuries, breaks, upsets, etc. You read way too many press clippings. Find the good, and maybe you could put those Xanax and those "stomach pills" away. The MNC would have been nice, but 12-2 and an SEC Championship is nothing to complain about, not in this league if it's what everyone cranks it up to be.

That's not showing up on CSTV for me...is it still on?

I appreciate ten win seasons in years where a team is a nine or ten win quality team, where they exceeded or met their potentiality.

In years where a team is a 12 or 13 win potentiality, that is where I would prefer they land.

I bet LSU Under 10.5 regular season wins for the maximum preseason, rationalizing that if they were 11-2 each of the last two years, yet lost four 1st rounders, and won plenty more nailbiters the previous two years than they lost, that this squad was probably another 10-2 team with a few questions on the OL. But, after watching the first four games, I thought I had a dead cinch loser, as LSU was obviously one of the best two, if not best team in the land, by far, it was to become the best $500 ever lost...sadly I cashed the winning ticket this past week.

Thanks to never jamming the gunners, never putting punts down inside the twenty, kickoffs to the 10-15 yd line, returns past the fifty, offsides, illegal formations, personal fouls, injuries(some possibly due to lack of rotating players and developing depth,) abandoning hot hands on a dime, a particuliar DB that doesn't turn his head on a swivel as to make a play on the ball, leaving in starters to the very end vs cupcakes(instead of getting reps for players needing development and reps as to run a BCS/SEC gauntlet,) stubbornness to play only seniors/starters in grinding them to a nub in SEC battles with everyone gunning for #1/#2 all year, hardheaded gameplans that never adapted or lacked complexity, obvious formations/playcalls given the personnel run on & off the field, a soft player's coach attitude that permeated down resulting in trailing in the 1st qtr for six straight weeks, and eventually resulted in a weary team that allowed 24+ to the last seven SEC teams faced..etc..

The best senior-laden talent in the land was cheated by their coaches from garnering the hardware they shoulda-coulda-woulda had this year..and more debatably possibly last year too.

These kids play their hearts out, I appreciate them immensely, and what a thrill they've been(more times than not it wasn't required if coached differently,) but feel they were not as properly prepared to maximize their possibilities as they could've been..and nothing is gonna sell me differently on this topic.
