re: Ok. What’s your take on Denbrock?

I think it’s a neutral hire. Someone BK is comfortable with that will allow the head coach to have a heavy hand in the offense.
Probably doesn’t win or lose you any games. LSU needs a big overhaul on the offensive line. Until that happens I don’t see much changing on that side of the ball.

If his TE that pulled around blocks the first guy its a 10 yard gain. I hated the call until i saw the replay. Bama brought pressure from the outside and a draw up the middle is a good play call if you expect pressure. Just pourly executed by the TE.

What about the reverse on 3rd and 4, before the 4th down?

I'll be honest i don't remember that play but reading reverse on 3rd and 4 sounds bad lol.

I like him. Some of those drops were drive killers. The batted down ball also cost them points.

Not an exciting hire on paper, but I’m going to wait to actually see he and LSU perform before I decide if it was a good hire or not.
LSU’s new HC has won a lot of games in his career. I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt

Denbrock is a legit offensive coach albeit not the modern day guy that is in vogue
We’ll attract quality qb talent though since he has a good reputation developing qb’s

There's a saying in Chinese that "the rooster who crows in the morning will seldom be seen stealing eggs in the afternoon."
It loses something in the translation, but I think my point is clear

I saw cinci was in 11 personnel and shotgun most of the game. Looked like they were moving the tight end around quite a bit. Mixed in some pistol. Some misdirection mixed in. Not much different structurally from the stuff we were running in 19’ except less empty, not sure what kind of receiving threat the back #24 is.
That’s actually a great setup in modern college football if you have a versatile TE and a RB who can catch well. We saw how effective it can be at keeping a defense constantly off balance in 2019. If Kelly can find us a legit starting TE for next year in the portal, we can expect to see this personnel package a lot.

My take is that he ran the offense for a team that has went 22-2 the last two seasons with only two loses being to Georgia and Bama. He one of the most experienced coaching resumes in that he coached on both sides of the ball and every position on offense. I like that Kelly and Denbrock have worked together before so there will no weird situations like Coach O and Coach Canada.
