I'd much rather coach at LSU. Austin is a nice place, but their boosters are fricking nuts and and our women are way better looking.

I lived here since 05 and can vouch for that.

the money that top schools bring in negates any advantage relative to the head coaching salary market.
That's a good angle. He has a better chance to be good at LSU, regardless of salary. Sucking at Texas will make him look like less of a commodity.

Of course, that means he will eventually want to go to the NFL. That's one advantage Jimbo has. We know he's not going to the NFL. If he's successful, he'll likely be here until he retires.

Nothing like UT boosters. They actually make Bama boosters completely normal. The worst in college football.

what exactly are you basing this on? Cause it sure as frick isn't based on what they are actually paying their current coaches.

Exactly. Classic case of a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. They read that Texas has the most revenue and extrapolate that they can outbid anyone, like it's Yankees vs Twins circa 2000, but that's not how it works.

Nah, just because Texas CAN pay $10 million a year for a HC doesn't mean they are WILLING to pay it.

And neither school should be paying a HC from Houston with less than 2 years at the helm more than $2-3 million a year. LSU can pay what Texas will pay - it will come down to where Herman wants to be.

I said the same thing when all the Saban to Texas stuff was going on.

yeah but Strong has hired more recently. salaries at jobs like this go up every year, thats all there is to it, our next HC will likely end up in the top 3 or 4.

Don't think the money will be the issue. I think it comes down to which school will delete the No Kissing Clause.

Ew.

And I disagree. I think they've sucked for a really long time and they're sick of it. Nobody thought Michigan would pay Harbaugh that giant salary, but here we are.

Would Herman be able to bring Major to UT, if he is offered the job? Major didn't exactly leave on good terms... Then, is Orlando fit to be a P5 DC? Especially in the B12. Major would be welcomed with open arms back home in BR, and an old friend(although this angle is overplayed by some here. Herman slept on Aranda's couch for a few weeks) is already coaching one of the top defenses in the nation at LSU. Seems like an easier transition, and it's obviously a quicker path to success.

Why is the only deciding factor for Herman money? Is it because money is the only thing we can't expect to equal Texas on? Because in terms of football programs and actual product on the field, LSU beats Texas right now, hands down.

Mecca of football talent (per capita, pfft) and a roster that's already loaded. He took a wide reciever and had him as an early Heisman dark horse before Lamar Jackson blew up.
r
Have to figure if Herman is the MENSA guy that I hear all about, he can recognize how good a spot for him LSU might be.

We can't even waste the time on it. You throw a good offer at Herman and the minute you realize Texas also wants in you bail.

I completely agree, but yeah, I think money talks, especially huge piles of it.
