I think most fans , around 90 % want a big hire like Herman or jimbo but the names after that are gundy, fedora , Holgerson , well frick that they would rather give it to coach O and I agree ...

You're very insecure. It's okay if people disagree with you.

You need to live in reality. Put down your choices in order of preference. For me that is:

1 Fisher - gone
2 Herman - ???
3 Orgeron with new OC and offensive staff

I am out of bullets after that. So do all these folks who don't want O not want him under any circumstance or just in priority?

I'm not an O pumper by any means. I really want to get Herman, but if we miss on Herman I would be happy to get Orgeron if we don't really want to go with Fedora or someone like that. Either way I hope coach O stays on the staff along with Aranda.

What's to like about Orgeron as a head coach you ask?
He seems to be a great motivator and people person. The players like him and will play hard for him week in week out. He is a great recruiter also, probably the most important trait of any head coach. While he is not a great X and O coach, he doesn't need to be. He lets his coordinators do their jobs. He seems to make efficient use of practice time. Execution has really improved on both sides of the ball and special teams since he took over. He has proven he can coach LSU football, not Ole Miss or North Carolina football, but LSU football. The media seems to love him, that is always a plus.

Other than not being very experienced at other schools, whats not to like about him?

I would give him serious consideration, along with Fedora, Fleck (who seems isn't even being considered), along with a few others if we miss out on Herman.

Honestly I have never seen on here or heard anywhere anyone say that as a reason why they like coach O. The only people who seem to say that are the people who don't want coach O, say that people say that.

I'm not totally on the bus for him but honestly I'd take him over Herman.

He is arguably the best recruiter we could hope for. He is a motivator and the kids love to play for him. Parents want their kids to sign with two types of coaches. Ones that they trust, and ones that can get their baby championships / into the pros.
With a OC like Kiffen or Sark and Aranda running the defense then why not have O as the representative of the program.

People put the Fla game on him but remember that Ensminger was calling the plays. I don't see anybody blaming Coach O for giving up season high points and yards last night against A&M.

My choice was:

1. Fisher
2. Gundy or Fedora
3. O

Not a fan of Herman. Hasn't proven anything to demand the money people on here talking about. Coaching pool of realistic choices is slim.

A good head coach needs good coordinators on both sides of the ball. He needs to hire coaches and let them do their job. Most Les haters on here claimed he needed to let the coordinators do their jobs. I am not saying O is the one, but what I have seen during his interim at 2 different schools, he could be successful.

This is such an assinine argument. Ppl say this as if all things are equal. Tom Herman wouldnt have lost to SMU and Memphis with LSU's talent. He also wouldnt have lost to Florida. What would O have done with Houston talent? Douht he beats Oklahoma and Louisville.

one other thing I left off as a reason to go coach O. You could get him for way way less than a coach like Herman and even way less than Fedora or Gundy. Why does that matter do you say? Because it leaves a whole lot of money to retain Aranda and to hire a great OC (if for some reason you aren't happy with Ensminger)

College educated, LSU grad, here that wants O as our head coach. I'm not a pumper by any means but i'd like to see him get the job because I've been extremely impressed with the turn around the program has made under his watch.

I'm realistic enough to know that college football is a strange game and nothing is a given. That's the reason the young men line up and play the game each week. So many on here act like they know everything about every team and who will win every game yet the Pitts of the world still beat Clemson, and Iowas still beat Michigan, etc. Just like "home run hires" don't always pan out. As Georgia fans after one season...in an Instagram world fans are too fickle and want instant. I think Herman would be a good hire, but there are no guarantees. Jimbo has been decent at Fsu with the exception of one year he had a freak qb magician. We had consistently decentwith Miles. I look at the sutuation through realistic eyes unlike some of you who just blindly believing that some of these coaches are the magic unicorns.

People bring up his Ole Miss record and yes it wasn't good at all. But that's only one piece of the puzzle. When I first got the job I have I wasn't really great at it, I had to learn from lots of talented people above me and around me what it took to be great at it, and implemented those best practice scenarios. This is much like O says he has done. He's learned under some of the best and you can see that it has paid off. He has slowly unworn a team that looks as talented as I believed they were at the start of the season. He is a hometown guy (in state) and that's not homerism or old boy syndrome it's the belief that in college football, where recruiting the best and most talented in state, it would go a long way having a guy who gets the passion of the state trying to keep them here.

I'm proud of the way we've played. I've enjoyed watching again, and love the idea of continuity and an easy transition. In college football I believe it pays dividends.

another excellent reason for keeping coach O. Where's the guy who started this thread? Must not have expected all these great reasons why Coach O would make an excellent head coach at LSU.

To all the people who said the only reason people want coach O is because he is a Cajun and/or "one of us"

It's been years since I've seen LSU play as hard as they have played the last 7 games. Our offense finally looked good and I believe went over 600 yds 3x...now imagine what it will look like when he has an offseason to implement a new offense. He has stated he wants to run an offense like USC. We dominated Florida...our mouths cost us that game. Bama was tied in the 4th qtr.

Now you tell me why he doesn't deserve consideration over Herman...so Herman was an OC at rice, Iowa St, and OSU and OSU was the only place he won...do yo really think he made OSU better? Has OSU fallen off without him? Houston has had great offenses for years.

I don't really want him, but with the right OC I don't think it's the end of the world. I don't buy the notion that he "sets us back 20 years." Bring in Sark or someone as OC, and I think we're a minimum 9 win team no matter who's coaching.

I guess what I'm saying is I don't want him as HC, but folks acting like it's the end of the world if he's made permanent are pretty obviously overreacting.
