Ok. How about this? Florida didn’t frick around with someone that USC stole from them, and Florida is not fumbling around in the dark right now, two weeks before the early signing period. Is that better?

Don't get pissed because you started a dumb thread.

Florida walked into the bar at 10 pm, did a shot, grabbed the first 4 they saw and took her home.

Congrats on getting laid, I guess.

You can downplay Napier all you want but he's been on everyones list since last year..He didn't inherit a legacy program like Riley..He took a loser and rebuilt it to a winner..Not everyone can do that. He has also made UL the best team in the state of Louisiana the last two years..Hell he has U Frickin L ranked.

You just described Justin Fuente, who did an even more impressive job rebuilding a Memphis program that was bottom 5 in the FBS when he took over thanks to Larry Porter’s handiwork. Fuente played in a much tougher league and beat more P5 opponents than Napier before he made the move up…and he was just fired.

There are no sure-fire hires from the G5.

UF has a solid AD. It starts there.

He offered his old pal the gig last time with no real search. How did that work out?

Floridas coach will probably be on campus at he same time as LSUs

Gonna look great for Recruits when he's dialing them up from his office phone in laffy

No, the point of the entire thread we are posting in was that Florida made some great call and grabbed their guy after making all the right moves which is bullshite,

what is bullshite about it? They identified a prospective coach, interviewed him, were impressed enough to offer him, nailed it down, and now he is ready to get on the job and get things done. Meanwhile our AD is standing around with his thumb up his arse, doesn't even give him apparently even a phone call or much less an interview. Dudes right down the street, yet not even an interview. He's good enough for Florida to hire (and Auburn as well) yet we think we are to good to even give him an interview. Brilliant.

Or… they thought about it, looked at who were realistic targets based upon what they wanted to pay, and pulled the trigger on their top choice. I mean, it’s not like they pulled some bum out of a gutter. They hired a guy who is widely regarded as an up and comer with a great coaching pedigree.

Meh, not hard to hire a Sunbelt coach.

I will reserve judgment till Lsu makes a hire. Its much harder to hire a guy from a successful P5 then the Sunbelt.

Apparently he’s already making calls, got a 4 star OL verbally committed to FSU holding off his signing until he comes to visit UF in Jan

And, like all other G5 hires, is a risk. How did UF’s last G5 promotion for a Saban disciple work out?

Florida has plenty of recent experience with coaching searches, and their track record sucks. That’s their clinic.

And this is the only reason you even know he fricking exists. What really separates Napier from Chadwell (other than not being able to beat him on the field), or Drinkwitz, who now has 2 years of SEC experience to go with his time in the Fun Belt? Getting fired by Dabo? Spending time at Bama? That last bit is one of his primary claims to fame around here.

There’s a reason most of these low G5ers have to take a mid-tier job first. CUSA, the Fun Belt and the MAC are shite and don’t fully prepare coaches for bigger jobs. The pattern in the industry is pretty clear- Row the Boat to Minnesota. Brohm to Purdue. Hell, even Urban had to go prove himself at Utah. Congrats to Napier for getting a bigger program to bite early, but that shouldn’t win UF any prizes until he actually accomplishes something.

They came out of nowhere, went after a big fish, and got it done with the quickness (within 24-48 hrs)

You don't know he was their top choice, but let's assume he was. That's great. They targeted a Sunbelt coach who they knew would jump at the chance to move to the SEC. It's basically low hanging fruit. I'm not sure why you're lauding this as the gold standard coaching search.

It’s the equivalent to hiring a jr college coach.

what separates them is that Napier has been at big programs his entire career in coaching prior to ULL while Chadwell has not. Also Napier is (or was) in high demand for the last couple of years when coaching vacancies came up while
Chadwell has not. Sometimes (most times) it's about more than just a resume.
