Was their a lot of University's beating down the door for Napier

It was a lazy hire by Florida. They just took the first available.
Not lazy, traditional.
They took the highest rated and available guy on the board. Napier would have been on every list in the SEC, including Alabama.

Nobody is forcing you to do this

Florida's AD is the guy who hired Dan Mullen because he'd worked with him at Mississippi State. He didn't look around a whole lot before he made that hire, and Mullen just got fired.
It isn't hard to look decisive. Maybe Woody ought to pick up the phone and call J.T. Curtis and offer him the job. That'd be Woody identifying his man and nailing him down.
Napier's done a nice job at ULL, but in case you haven't noticed the Sun Belt has a drop-dead horrible record of putting coaches into Power 5 programs and having them succeed.

I didn’t really want to hire Napier. I did however think we’d have our hire by now..
Napier is now free to start talking to our in state-targets while we don’t have a coach to defend against him.
That’s a bit unsettling.

Florida hires Napier and this means they put on a clinic? LMAO!

USC too, no sloppy leaks, insiders dropping nuggets. found their guy, and landed him

I would expect Florida to land a much bigger name than Napier, regardless of what people may think of him as an up and comer and future A-lister.

Is it any lazier than if Woodward hires Campbell or Aranda?
Especially after working on this for 12 weeks?

It would almost be worth hiring him now just to mindfrick the Florida fans. I guarantee you he’d still come.

because he was up the road.
This is the worst take of all in this search. I could care less how close or far “up the road”he is. I believe he deserved an interview, and should have been considered. I don’t know if he should’ve been hired, but he should’ve been considered.
We got punked by Riley, and now we’re getting punked in public perception.

Yep.. he sat by his phone hoping it would ring for a few days after he accepted the Fla job..

No matter how you slice it, this is a bad look
Not if we’ve already got out guy and are jus resorting until he’s out of championship contention to announce.
If anything, Florida made a rush hire that may or may not work out. But it’s hard to believe they did their full due diligence when making a move that fast.

Can’t tell if you’re being sarcastic or not, but while he may not be sitting by the phone he would absolutely answer if it rings.

A clinic in hiring a sun belt coach who was tired of coaching where he is? :

You can downplay Napier all you want but he's been on everyones list since last year..He didn't inherit a legacy program like Riley..He took a loser and rebuilt it to a winner..Not everyone can do that. He has also made UL the best team in the state of Louisiana the last two years..Hell he has U Frickin L ranked.
This is Spurrier all over again and Billy Napier will be y'alls new daddy..
Trust me every hire is a crap shoot....you stupid asses calling for the Jimbo...lost to a 5-6 fired coach team with back ups playing...Hugh Freeze who Napier has owned both times they played...Joe Brady..the same guy that said Peetz was the man Ha Ha....

Mullen got the job at FL after Chip Kelly and another coach said no thanks. Mullen wasn't the ADs first call.

They hired a G5 coach, who had never won his own conference, and who LSU didnt even bother to interview
And thats a clinic to you?
And thats a clinic to you?
