I realize Texas is probably the only program that can outbid Alabama, but that stands true for any program. They could just as well come calling for Les Miles and throw those figures that people in several threads have been "quoting".

Actually, ND could also throw out some serious $$$ if they were inclined.

So, Coach Miles would go to Texass AFTER passing on his alma mater TWICE...right.

Besides, Les is not a polished enough politican for that crowd in Austin. They want someone that talks like a debater, not someone that speaks in tongues.

Not speculating on anything other than to point out that Texass has the $$$ & resources to make $aban an offer he can't refuse, should they so choose.

Yeah, but Austin doesn't have the nice scenery and culture that Tuscaloosa has.

I think Saban learned a lesson when he left LSU. When you build a program that can compete for a championship every year.....your in a great situation. Winning championships should be the challenge....not building programs. I can't see him leaving Bama. I definitely can't see him taking a media job.

No one is arguing that, but that being said, neither is Baton Rouge. I lived in Baton Rouge too. I loved it, but few places compare to Austin.

Austin is a parking lot. I have to go every two weeks. Not impressed. Much rather Houston.

what do you just stay on the freeway?

I love Houston, but Austin is great, much more scenic, lots of cool stuff going on.

I think Saban wins another NC at bama and retires at 70. Just don't see him going until 75 like Joe Pa.

MSU and LSU added to Saban's mystique and each program has gained more from each of NS experiences there.

I've said there's only one job I'd be seriously concerned about Saban taking, and that's Notre Dame. Because the opportunity to rebuild them back to glory might be too much temptation.

Agreed. ND and WVU are the two schools I could envision him retiring at if not Bama. As people age, faith and home begin calling louder and louder. Those two schools would provide the challenge and home/faith aspect that might lure him away.

Seems like they would have pushed for Kirby to "help" UAB - kind of like having a farm club.

Neh. I fully believe that the uab football job is Sisyphus on steroids.

Uab's new coach might change that. He has the fire....

I think he goes 3-5 more years at Bama and retires to ESPN, where he can stare into everyone's soul through the cameras from a studio, instead of a sideline report.

You think ESPN would hire him? He has zero personality, and makes Lee Corso look like George Clooney

Yeah, I'm not sure Saban is into the Ausin scene. I'm sure he probably thinks Austin is full of dirty hippies and Lake Travis is too crowded to enjoy his peaceful boat rides.

I think he stays at bama for about five more years then retires. Could only see him leaving for Notre Dame for major money, but Kelley will be there for a few more years at least.

What is Saban's buy-out clause?

I think the Saban to UT stuff is BS. I was responding to someone that said Austin was a parking lot. Traffic there on 35 does suck, worse than Houston, but it is a beautiful city and a lot more than just hippies.

I think he retires at Bama, but like I've said wouldn't be shocked if he took another job, just my guess he doesn't.

Don't see him leaving bama. Gumps worship him, he gets the job done, and he isn't going to make a lot more money somewhere else.

Also, I am not sure he will retire anytime soon. He does not strike me as the type that would be happy in retirement or has a desire to not coach anymore.

Texas would be a bad fit for Saban simply because of how their AD runs that athletic department. Dodds is a control freak and so is Saban. There is no way those two men would ever mesh well together.

Mack Brown is also a control freak fwiw.

You don't have to be an angry troll to be a control freak
