Nah man. OL needs to be coached by someone with experience. It's not somewhere you can just put big bodies and have success.

Under Les Miles the TE coach and OL coach probably had very similar things to coach.

New O line coach.

Interestingly, the very first coach that Canada thanked (in his speech at his Broyles Award Ceremony) wasn't his BFF HC Narduzzi.

It was his OL coach John Peterson.

For starters, every recruit that got an offer had to be okayed by CLM. "Teach a playable scheme" Grimes does not decide on what scheme to teach the OL, that's the OC's decision. The only thing that Grimes has control over is teaching technique. Rules, calls, and protections come from the OC's system.

From everything I've read it looks like Canada is very capable at developing quarterbacks. So maybe not a huge need to bring in a QB coach.

And I am ready to give Grimes one more year. It was and is apparent that Miles screwed with every aspect of our team just enough to confuse the shite out of everybody.

I would like to see what Grimes can do with the D not knowing what play we are running. We did have the 3 most yds rushing by Guice & LF7 of all time after miles with ensminger calling plays.

Glad the OC hire is over,Canada was my choice even thru
all the down votes,, I hope Lsu/Coach O give Kevin Mawae an interview. This is one smart, heck of O lineman who used those smarts to excel at the highest level. Les didn't give him a chance :/ Grimes was his guy. Kevin
would do better

That's crazy. He has recruited well and Imo needs another season to see what he can do. It takes a couple years to get your own guys. Pass pro struggled at times but run blocking did well. Once miles left he did more zone and it got better. After next season will let us know what we have with grimes as a developer.

I agree he deserves a full year w/o Miles, but it should be Canada's call.

I just hope all coaches stay on board until Signing Day.

IMHO, I haven't been impressed with Craig and the WR corps. Maybe he would make a fine QB coach along with RC duties.

Grimes is responsible for the current state of the OL in both personnel and recruiting.

I'd love to see an experienced and proven OL Coach in here that will teach a playable scheme and recruit SEC Caliber OL's. That's not being done now..............

I still wonder if Miles hindered Grimes ability to get the OL on track. Grimes has coached OL for 18 years. At Boise St they had the #1 scoring offense. At BYU they had the #4 overall offense. At Arizona State he had 4 OL drafted to the NFL in 1 year. He also coached OL at Auburn and Va Tech.

Maybe he's not that good, but his resume says otherwise. I think he needs one year removed from the old system to show what he can do.
