God I hate this "inside source" crapola. Those of you who were here for the "Miles to Michigan" fiasco know I railed on about people's supposed "inside sources".

I'll lay my cards out, though. I work with the son of a UT booster. I have NO idea how close he is to the coaching search, or whatever. . .

He says Davis is the top candidate as of right now, and to not believe what Davis says at UNC. Word is people will change their tune after the season is over.

In my co-worker's defense, Sexton's comments sound like he is negotiating quietly. LINK

Those who think I'm full of shite, fine. I have never been known to lie. I just wanted to share what I was told.

Thanks for the info...I always hate people that jump all over people for posting inside info. Sure allot of people just make uup stuff sometimes, but what is the point of boards like these without rumors?

Wouldn't be a bad hire imo. He's doing pretty good things at UNC right now, and would definitely have a national brand to draw on.

agreed.

Davis/UT union would spell trouble for UF, UGA, and Bama.

Rumor mill is true. Although he says he is not interested, Davis has been the top choice.

I would love to have him. His Miami teams were crazy good.

Just hope the lane kiffin crap is false.

Also, word is that Fulmer is hell bent on remaining a D1 coach. I wouldn't be surprised if someone rolled the dice.

UCLA might hire him. He can get the goods on USC, then UCLA can be relevant again for a bit.

Weiss to a donut shop.
Saban to ND.
Fulmer to Bama.
Butch Davis to Tenn.
Ty Willingham to Clemson.
Tommy Bowden to UNC.

Book it!

Davis can recruit but he will be exploited coaching wise in the SEC. Saban, Meyer and Richt will run circles around Davis on the sideline.

had a 50-21 record while under severe sanctions from Erickson at Tha U. . .I don't see him being outcoached by any of those guys. Richt was outcoached by Fulmer on several occasions.

Agreed. I fricking HATE Rocky Top, but them being good helps us out against Bama certainly since they play every year, and we only play them every few years.

But God I hate that song...

dude this is so untrue I don't know where to start

My LSU buddy has lunch with Davis from time to time, he said Davis is teir 1 coach all the way..
Just listening to his Press conferences you understand the quality of coach he is..

He is a CEO type (just like Saban), down the 9th detail of everthing..Band location, fireworks, media guide, everything the guy has a hand in, because it all about the Program!

And he is a defensive minded coach...He coached in the NFL for 4 years...If anyone would get outcoached it would be Urban...because he doesn't have NFL experience

now more than ever, CFB is a different animal than the NFL

and davis had nervous breakdowns and shite in cleveland, so i wouldn't celebrate his time in the NFl

i mean he's a coach who has rumors around him that he once got so nervous before a game he shite his pants, so...

Because he realized he worked for a crappy organization and the job was too big for one man to fix!

Dude Butch Davis is at the top of the food chain I promise you..

He is a builder just like Saban

yeah, in CFB

because he's a great recruiter and program builder

his time in the NFL really doesn't say anything about his abilities as a CFB head coach

he had major physical and mental health issues in Cleveland and I can't imagine him wanting that kind of pressure in Tenn. why would he?

i agree

he may have "the bug" again

but he can win at UNC. they have good regional talent. he can recruit nationally. it's in the ACC

he has a better local recruiting area than at UTenn for sure

Absolutely. Next year in particular 'Bama has a huge advantage in the West. Their East opponents are Kentucky,Tennessee, and S Carolina.

He still had twice the talent of those weak Big East teams.
