Who LSU hires to be Head Coach is far less important than who the new HC hires to be his coordinators and position coaches.

O's downfall began by making bad hires after 2019.

So focus on this name or that name. I want a coach who will bring in a high powered offense and an aggressive defense. The name doesn't matter if lacking of either.

It starts at recruiting and developing a QB. That’s the most important factor in our coach/OC. We need somebody who has that on their resume.

At the end of the day there are only a few play callers on earth who can make an offense work with no weapons. One of them is named Sean Payton and he’s not walking through that door.

You gotta recruit and develop well if you want a potent offense.

Well if it was Lincoln then you pretty much have your OC. He could just bring Bedenbaugh with him. But he looks crazy.

What if he hires someone who runs their own offense/defense? Then your point on coordinators doesn't matter.

Riley runs his own offense.
Saban runs his defense.
Jimbo runs his offense.
and so on.

I can't see them hiring someone who doesn't "specialize" on one side of the ball

Or what?

You people that talk in absolutes and don’t have the wherewithal to back up your threat

Good God let the Brady shite go please. That mindset has us in the hole we are currently in.

We are chasing ghosts looking for the next "Brady."

We need to hire a competent HC and he can establish his system with assistants, recruiting, etc.

Pinning all of your expectations on 1 coordinator is futile. Ever notice how many coordinators Bama has won with over the last 10 years? Do you even know who Clemson's OC is? It is irrelevant because the HC is not a bumbling idiot. Hopefully that will be corrected for us very soon.

I think I understand what you're trying to say here, but I have to disagree. Who LSU hires as their next HC is still the most important decision that will be made. If you get the right guy, his most important decisions will be the coaches he selects. Football has become a world of perpetual recruiting at both the player and coach level. It's not about finding the next hot coordinator.
It's about having a pool of the next best coordinators (plural) already in house, getting familiar with the system and being groomed as the next leaders. You absolutely must be able to develop both players and coaches today.

How many coaches have moved through Alabama's system first as analysts, then as coordinators and then moved on to be HC's somewhere else? You must have a clear vision of the program and an unbending commitment to your process. It is truly a commitment to excellence top to bottom. That's the only type of HC you should be considering. That's the type of HC who you fully trust to run the program and bring in the right coordinators. Quit chasing past performances. Establish the character of the program, bring in the coaches and players that fit that mold, follow the process relentlessly and you will be consistently at the top. You do not waiver, you do not quit, you do not dial it in. You live and breathe the mantra every day. It is who you are and it is what your team becomes. You never get distracted, you never forget what you came to accomplish. You never forget the goal and you relentlessly pursue it over and over again. Coordinators do not establish the character of the program. The HC does. He is the one who creates the atmosphere that delivers a championship program. Not just one trophy.
