this one is starting to gain some serious legs

quote:

We don’t know yet whether Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly is really going to leave to become the next head coach at Notre Dame. But we do know there are people close to the Cincinnati football program who think Kelly is gone.

We’re hearing that people connected to the Cincinnati program think that a deal is already in place for Kelly to coach Notre Dame. There’s even talk about who will lead the football program in its bowl game, which will be a BCS bowl thanks to Cincinnati winning the Big East.

Overall, the mood at Cincinnati is that it’s hard to celebrate a conference championship when you think the coach who got you there is about to bolt.

Of course, Charlie Weis does still have the Notre Dame job, and if he can pull off a miracle upset at USC tonight, all of that talk that Weis is on the way out will disappear. But for now, Weis is in serious jeopardy of being fired, and Kelly appears to be the favorite to replace him.

Would be an excellent hire by the Domers.

Kelly is too much of a character question mark for Michigan State but not Notre Dame?

Kelly has been talked about making a move this year or next.

I agree.

I don't see this happening.

I keep hearing about the character issues, what are they?

Alcohol, womanizing?

I've read threads on ND, Tennessee, and Rivals boards, no one knows where the character issues come from except perhaps a racial comment at CMU. Who knows?

One of his player(s) at Central Michigan was being investigated for murder or attempted murder and he didn't cooperate in the investigation for starters.

Timing may be bad, but they would love to have Meyer and it has always been his dream job. God I wish they could pluck that fricker out of Gainesville.

Can you imagine how much they'd pay Meyer to go to Nd? He'd make Nick Saban's salary look like nothing.

+1

He might go too, if ND will ante up. He wanted to coach there before, and it wont be as much fun at UF without Tebow anyway.

Yeah, they would open the checkbook bigtime for him and he would get that thing turned around IMO.

Living here in Gator country I am really hoping for this because he has turned that program into a fricking juggernaut and I can hardly take it. My fear is that if he has Florida in the NC game the timing won't work for the Domers. So ROLL TIDE!!!!!!

Notre dame offered Meyer the job at the same time Florida offered him. He obviously turned down Notre Dame. Why would he go now? He's not going anywhere.

I thought he turned it down because ND lowballed him on the offer and was just pretty arrogant about the whole thing.

Didn't he ask for x number of academic passes a year and ND said no.

They might be more understanding now.
