But wait, I thought Corch was going to go there.

After all, he said he wasn't going to go so that means he is going to go. Right?

I wish someone would start a rumor that they were looking at Al Groh or something

Norman - There is a coaching vacancy in South Bend, Indiana.

Notre Dame has fired head coach Charlie Weis after five seasons and a 35-27 record.

Now, comes word that an analyst for Notre Dame's Scout.com page says the Notre Dame Athletic Department and Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops have verbally agreed to the principles of a contract.

Of course, there is also word from a beat writer for the Daily Oklahoman that Stoops just this afternoon said quote "I'm going to be at Oklahoma next year."

Stoops had no comment on the situation at his weekly press conference on November 18th.

"There's nothing to talk about," Stoops said. "Notre Dame has a coach and I've got a great job and you know, people just make stuff up. I don't need to comment on that."

Weis' Fighting Irish began the season 6-and-2, but lost four straight, including losses to Navy and Connecticut. The regular season ended Saturday with a 45-38 loss to Stanford after the Irish led 31-27 heading to the fourth quarter.

There has been no comment from Norman about the rumor. Stoops is 116-and-29 in eleven seasons at Oklahoma. But, his 2009 club has suffered through its worst season under his tutelage, going 7-and-5.

The Sooners did however cap off the regular season in style with a 27-0 win over in-state rival Oklahoma State Saturday in Norman. It's likely the Sooners are headed to the Sun Bowl, but the question is will Bob Stoops be with them?

Stoops to ND makes no sense to me unless he is having administrative issues that aren't public. Why leave one of the most historic programs in college football for an equally historic program that is harder to recruit to with academic qualifications

Isn't it funny he has one of his worst years at OU and he could be the pick by ND.

Absolutely!

On espn.com circa 2007..."I guess I have to say it...I will not be the coach of the University of Alabama"

I mean, who knew?
