Hypothetically speaking, what if Herman came here and then the Texas job opened up a year or 2 later?

To me, this is not a negative and would mean a couple things:

A. In order for Texas to come calling, LSU would have to be experiencing great success (think championships)

B. If he goes to Texas, we are now in position to pluck top of the line coaching talent again (refer to reason A)

Now where's the negative in that?

Yeah I see what you are saying but I just can't help but think if he has turned LSU into a well oiled machine how he could take a step down at that point to go to Texas. I say step down because LSU would be at the top of the landscape in my scenario.

Me too. But that's what keeps us coming back here.

not necessarily

I think a 10-2 Herman would be enough for Texas to still want him. Again, I'm just talkin' shite here.

God, I don't want to do this again...

Funny how when it's good news for LSU, people believe it, yet when it's bad news, like when Narcisse was told Herman wasn't coming here, people shot it down
I don't know. We all believed that our administration was fricking things up behind the scenes. That's not very good for LSU.

If Herman came to LSU, his contract would obviously contain some ridiculous $20+ million buyout clause if he were to leave for Texas (or even A&M).

You are in for big disappointment if you think Jimbo Fisher is some perfect coach that doesn't have any "cracks or fissures" in his program from time to time.

That's every fricking coach not named Nick Saban.

I think Texas will begin experiencing better success and the job won't be available. If Herman doesn't get in now, it's likely not happening. Same with LSU.

Texas had the #6 recruiting class last year and have 18 returning starters.

At which mark? Because I swear he says "it's pretty much set in stone" around the 48:30 mark but I think he's referring to his decision to go to LSU.

What is irrational is picking Herman over Jimbo, IMHO.

Herman is a HUGE reach. Jimbo is a proven commodity.

Would you say your opinion on the new coach should carry less weight since you thought Les did no wrong?
