Is there a HC that jumped from a nonpower conference team (group of 5) and won a national championship with the new team? I don’t think so. At least not since the BCS era. Tressel did it from I-AA. Also, I’d argue that Napier’s resume was better than Golesh’s. See where that got Fla.

Urban Meyer… great call. Forgot Utah was Mountain West back then. I stand corrected.

Well, why not, let's just get it over with.

Them Russians are some mean sumbitches. We need to bring nastiness back to LSU football.

Mickey Mouse offense haha Jesus Christ people.

It’s a veer and shoot style offense the likes of Tennessee (as you mentioned), Vandy, Miss St, and other Briles disciples.

It’s fun and scores points but all of these teams, including Baylor in their hay day have a hard time winning big games against opponents with the same or similar talent.

I’m not saying the guy sucks, but we’ve seen the style of football, certainly in the NFL, go back towards tight end sets with the qb turning his back to the defense and hitting explosives. More traditional offenses not allowing defenses to play nearly as much nickel do fine defense.

Napier was a middling to terrible coordinator before lucking into a job at a shitty sunbelt school.

They are not the same

Their speed between snaps doesn’t allow the defense to adjust.
I’d be curious if his offense was anything more than that.
