Some of the Crowton staying BS may be to keep it a bit quiet so he can leave amicably. Like last season, we all were told they were going to be out, but nothing official was said, and people were like "he's staying, if they are going to fire him, they wouldn't wait". Both Peveto and Mallory then "found" new jobs and left LSU.
I think some people are trying to make sure that if Crowton is let go, he'll do it with pride and not being "fired". Hopefully its the same with Studs, but I have a feeling he's coming back.

In case there is any commentary on Dandy Don's prediction that Crowton and Stud stay.

So Far, Belowpar has been on the money. Miles is likely giving Crowton the chance to "leave on his own terms" instead of getting canned.
Belowpar has credibility on everything he's stated in the past. So,

Agreed. Just like the whole point of The New York Times is to get unauthorized information from the U.S. military about planned troop movements in war zones that is inside information and not Defense Department spin. Einstein.

it kills me that BP has chimed in several times but hasn't mentioned stud. the O line was fricking atrocious. Jordan got swarmed every play and the running backs rarely if ever had a lane. i'll never understand why miles doesn't coach the OL himself. stud never had the resume to deserve the LSU job, and hes done nothing to keep it. this is incredibly disappointing.

Exactly,
If this OC hire/fire thing is leaked. Thousands will die. It is JUST LIKE THAT.

What about dooley?? from la tech? I was very impressed with the excecution of their offense and the way he handles himself.
Does he coach offense? Helluva coach dooley is.
i love how LSU fans think anyone including god himself will drop everything and come running to be a coach or an assistant coach at LSU.....The guy is the head coach at a D-1 school he is not leaving to be the OC here, or anywhere else, unless he gets canned and can't find another HC gig....

And belowpar - have any other OCs "spoken with" the program other than Kragthorpe?
I, for one, sure the hell hope so.
its weird how some coaches get a rep and it sticks forever, even when theres absolutely nothing to support that rep. like pete carrol being some defensive genius and kragthorpe being a great OC. here are his offensive stats
Tulsa 2002, one year before Kragthorpe
86th in rushing offense. 123 ypg.
74th in passing offense. 193 ypg.
105th in total offense. 316 ypg.
101st in scoring offense. 20 ppg.
2003, Kragthorpes first year at Tulsa
23rd in rush offense. 191 ypg.
80th in pass offense. 196 ypg.
51st in total offense. 387 ypg.
28th in scoring offense. 30 ppg.
2004
42nd in rush offense. 168 ypg.
82nd in passing offense. 186 ypg.
73rd in total offense. 355 ypg.
40th in scoring offense. 28 ppg.
2005
40th in rush offense. 166 ypg.
41st in passing offense. 236 ypg.
39th in total offense. 402 ypg.
23rd in scoring offense. 33 ppg.
2006. His fourth and final year at Tulsa, as compared to Jimbo at LSU, who everyone here hated.
Rushing offense:
LSU: 31st. 165 ypg.
Tulsa: 36th. 162 ypg.
Passing offense:
LSU: 18th. 252 ypg.
Tulsa: 38th. 226 ypg.
Total offense:
LSU: 11th. 418 ypg.
Tulsa: 24th. 389 ypg.
Scoring offense:
LSU: 9th. 37 ppg.
Tulsa: 37th. 28 ppg.
so Tulsa got better but was still pretty average. Jimbo had better players but he was also going against better players and coaches, and he beat Kragthorpe in every category, sometimes badly.
2007, his first year at Louisville, offensive stats as compared to 2006 under Petrino.
Rushing offense:
Krag: 64th. 146 ypg.
Pet: 12th. 185 ypg
Passing offense:
Krag: 4th. 342 ypg.
Pet: 7th. 290 ypg.
Total offense:
Krag: 6th. 488 ypg.
Pet: 2nd. 475 ypg.
Scoring offense:
Krag: 18th. 35 ppg.
Pet: 4th. 38 ppg.
2008
46th in rushing offense. 164 ypg.
63rd in passing offense. 212 ypg.
45th in total offense. 377 ypg.
84th in scoring offense. 25 ppg.
So, at best, Kragthorpes teams could be called average on offense. at worst they would be called Lousiville. Bring on Dana Holgorsen.

What about someone like Danny Langsdorf at Oregon St. Always seems to have solid offenses with less than stellar players.
I read the other day where this is the 4th or 5th straight year that Oregon St. has ended the season in the top 25 after not being ranked in the pre-season polls.

Bill Cowher would become our OC and HEad coach and waiting if we would only have the balls to ask.

Thank you MastrShake for that breakdown.
If we hire Kragthorpe I am going to play in traffic on I-10.

Thanks Belowpar for providing us with your knowledge.
I think his replacement might be even more important than crowton. I am very very disappointed crowton's offense and bizarre playcalling for sure. But I also think alot of the offensive problems can be directly tied to piss poor OL play this year.

BP do you think maybe that Stud's future will be based alot on the opinion of whoever the new OC will be? and Les is waiting to have someone locked down and let him have alot of say in the choice?
