McCarthy will be out no matter what at this point. Whether he leaves to go with Porter or is fired b/c of the investigation announced, DJ will not be at LSU next year. And if the allegations are true, Porter may not want him around either.

Belowpar,

I sincerely hope that publicizing your "guesses" in this forum was authorized by someone in a position of authority at LSU.

Nolan Cromwell??

He's done a pretty good job with all of the young talent that he has.

Cromwell has been mentioned as a possible replacement at Kansas. He may wait to see how that plays out.

C'mon, please tell me the Last Don is gone too. What the hell was with that hire? Couldn't Miles coach the TEs since he has NFL experience there and use that slot for a dedicated QB coach that maybe can recruit too? Yano is a complete waste of a assistant slot at this point. All he does is paper work. Does he even coach our TEs?

The Last Don is indispensable. He is easily the best coach on this team.

Probably could have worded that more artfully. My point is that if he works at LSU or is close to the athletic program (and as a result knows his information to be accurate) and wasn't asked to leak the news, then he would have abused a trust. In doing so, would have succeeded in making life more difficult for Miles in helping Crowton find his way out gracefully, and in embarrassing Crowton and his family and making their task more difficult as well. A lot of downside in exchange for burnishing his image as a "reliable source" for a mere message board (assuming that was his only reward).

That's the irony of it, isn't it? This certainly would not qualify as a public "outing" that is in any sense "reliable" or "official."

Plus, all the stuff blasted at GC this year is worse, in many ways, then a mere "guessing" about being fired or not. It's not like this is the "only" thing that was ever posted about GC.

It's the Rant. That's what we do. All of us. Top to bottom.

I'd rather have speculation than a great coach.

More fun this way.

If Stud and Moffitt are added to the list, I will be a happy man. Our O-Line and Conditioning was atrocious the last two seasons. This is really the last time Miles will get away with re-tooling his coaching staff to compensate for and mask his own shortcomings.

You must be a plant for some other team. Moffit? That dude is pure gold for LSU. He is a lifetime keeper.

I agree that he has been a great ambassador for LSU, but our conditioning is horrible. Think about all of the players seizing up with cramps, the missed tackles, getting dominated at the line of scrimmage, etc.

I think having cramps has more to do with being dehydrated, than conditioning. Not saying it's definitely the cause, but it seems like maybe some guys were out drinking the night before certain games.

Missed tackles and getting dominated at the line is the coaches not focusing on fundamentals, an area LSU has been lacking in for quit some time. In all fairness, I don't think anyone teaches proper tackling technique anymore, and the players are just trying to make a big hit to get on the highlight reel.

Mofitt is considered one of the best strength and conditioning coaches in the country. I'd try to make sure he stays, and correct the real problems.
