What's to stop him from doing both?

He could be the head coach at Tennessee now, and then go to Texas when Mack retires.

Even if it's only one year from now.

He's the highest paid assistant in CFB.
Mack Brown is the highest paid HC in CFB.
Located in a recruiting hot bed.

I believe Muschamp will be a great head coach one day, but does Tennessee really offer a guy with no head coaching experience before interviewing him?

muschamp seems like the type of coach that would need a lot of good assistant coaches

and really good recruiters
