Why would you wait around, unless they've told him Mack is only going to coach for 2 more years. It could be 10 years before Mack decides to retire.

interesting question since it was all over talk radio on my way home today
a couple days ago, I would've said this notion is crazy, but, the Longhorns are a bit nervous.
The key point to all of this is: his new contract doesnt go into effect till Jan 1st - so, technically, he can still walk away without any sort of reprecussion (at least thats what they said)
One's thing for sure, the locals are very, very nervous that he will walk
In the end, I dont think he'll go, or even entertain the idea, but the people that called in were very concerned

Obviously Auburn is not Mississippi State. Auburn could offer him a head coaching job now, rather than having to wait for Mack's timetable.
Who knows? $2.5 million is a lot of money.

he needs to stay at ut because of recuiting. i think that he would have a much better chance at landing athletes in texas rather than alabama.

If the money is right, he will go to Auburn. As for recruiting, the Alabama/Florida Gulf Coast has enough talent to man many teams. Off hand I remember Emmitt Smith of Pensacola and now, Julio Jones of Fairhope. The area is full of LSU fans and should be a place we recruit....heavily. Don't know if we do anymore.

no...don't think he'll leave TX. Sports commentators mentioned how much he & his wife & family love Austin.
