How so? Look what he's had t owork with at MSST. Look who he plays against every week.

quote:

Outside of what he did with Dak Prescott has been unimpressive

Tim Tebow, some say one of the top players in CFB history. NC wins

even with Prescott he wasn't that great.

Again, look at the roster.

Yeah but the he's never had awesome talent at miss st.
It's very hard to land recruits at that school.

I "cringe" more when I hear people immediately discredit someone like Mullen (who certainly wouldn't be anywhere near my top choice), but are ready to make Orgeron our permanent head coach.

I agree.

For me, it's..

1a)Tom Herman
1b) Jimbo

3) Mullen

I will say that may be due to Mullen not being lights out in recruiting..

But in Austin Thomas I trust!

I feel bad for Mullen because he wasn't one of these offensive minded coaches who doesn't care about defense. He just had all of his DC's leave

Exactly. This guy runs the same system as Herman, coaches in the SEC and does more with less but ppl still scoff at his name because they are all over a guy who hasnt coached a season and a half at friggan Houston.
Not saying Herman cant coach, but he is unproven at a big time program being the HC playing comp better than UConn.

I think they all care about defense, but on that side of the ball talent trumps scheme. If your DB cant keep up with a stud WR its gonna be a long day no matter who the DC is.

I always like how miss st competed. If you look at the games we played them they played to the last minute.

He just doesn't have the same resources as lsu.

^This! Look at when he was at UF,they were one of the top offenses in the country. He and Herman both learned from Urban.

Let's summarize here:

2 coaches (one at a lesser school and another fired amidst a rape cover up) would want to coach here.

Jimbo is still one of our top choices.

Damn, ground breaking shite right there. The prophet has spoken, all.

The list of average or crap teams that have played us close under Miles is pretty lengthy. Mullen isn't special

Two of the top 10 coaches in the country should be easily attainable right now. One's top 5. The question is the baggage.

Briles turned Baylor into a top 10 team. Most would have killed to have him before the sexual assault stuff.

And Petrino had Arkansas in the top 5.

If say Mullen should be at the top of the tier 2 list. I wouldn't be thrilled but not disappointed either. It goes...

Herman
Jimbo
Petrino

Mullen
25 others...
Orgeron

His resume as a HC is 10 x what O's is....

And if O ran the table it'd still be better

Dan Mullen's resume is better than Les Miles' resume at the time we hired him from Okie Lite..

I think Mullen is coming into his own at the age of 44

It would obviously be disappointing losing out on Herman but..

I don't think it would be catastrophic landing Mullen (the Tiger Rant would crash having said that)
