Crowton couldn't coach a QB if it was Joesph Smith.
In other news, we now know that the secret playbook is buried somewhere in upstate new york, to be found only by divine revelation from moroni.

I really REALLY hope what yall are saying about this business of him not wanting to paint a negative aura.

Howmany people have nekkid pictures of Les Miles with someone he shouldn't be nekkid with?
Am I the only person at all connected to LSU that doesn't?

Could very well be Miles talking positively about Crowton to make him sound better for any teams trying to contact Crowton for a job. If Miles says he's not happy with the offense's lack of development or he something along those lines, that looks bad on Crowton and that could hurt Crowton's perception to those looking at hiring him. As several have said in this thread, I really think you all are reading way too much into it and drawing poor conclusions. Maybe Les doesn't plan on replacing him, maybe he does, but this article doesn't tell us anything about this decision right now especially when you take Les's method of handling coaching changes into affect.

I seriously doubt that Miles is going to talk about any of this in public.

Positive side - Hopefully Miles is doing this because it will make other teams think he is wanted at his school but he could be taken for a more managable price at this time. Hes setting his buddy up to make a good paycheck elsewhere. I doubt LM would put GC's family in front of his own. It also keeps LM's rep, as a great coach to work for, in tact. Making it more enticing for other OC's who are keeping an eye on the situation.
Negative side - How in the holy hell does Miles like the way any part of the offense has matured. The QB's and WR's have regressd without a doubt. They are no where near where they should be at this point and for him to be satisfied with it makes me want to vomit. If this is what he considers acceptable then Im not gonna be able to sit through too many games next year. Its not fair to the players he promises during recruiting, its not fair to the fans and boosters who pay his and his assistants salaries, and its not fair to the alumni who have so much pride in the product that their school puts on the field.
I sway from one to the other on a daily basis, but just felt like sharing

That's right. Confirm that the OC is a lame duck in the media where the players and everyone can see it for the bowl game.
I'm sure the team would be completely motivated if they knew they were playing for someone they knew wasn't going to be around next year.
Makes complete sense.

Like in 07 when they knew Pelini was leaving or 08 when they knew Peveto was leaving?

Peveto took the Northwestern job a couple weeks before the bowl game. There were also tons of rumors that Chavis was going to be the next dc.

If people would just read the article and Miles' quotes, he mentions nothing of retaining any coaches, its a misleading title

I will say, what exactly do you expect him to say?
"Oh yeah... should be canning Gary any day now."

Everyone should know by now that Miles is famous for saying this kind of thing...he is not going to degrade his team or coaches, especially after winning 10 games this season...

Miles is a class guy through and through. Even with that fact, there's probably not a head coach in the nation that would PUBLICLY say "we're getting rid of the OC and finding a new one." That's just stupid.
People pay too much attention to every single word that Miles says only to criticize him for what he says. You're just setting yourself up for failure and disappointment because it's none of your damn business. A guy (who has a wife and kids)'s job is at stake. He's handling it.

I don't know what kind of questions Miles was asked, but I've had the fortune/misfortune of listening Miles for years now and it did seem like he was dodging any questions about Crowton. He said "I like the QBs, I like the WRs, etc." He says that all the time.
"I like this team" is something he repeats a lot. It's been confirmed he's at least looking around. I still say 50/50 to wheter he's at LSU next year or not.
