Chicken, if he goes four or five years without a trip to ATL, there is a problem, and if we are going to start coming in no better than third in our own division, needs to go.

Chicken, not out of touch with reality.
My point is simply that Les has gotten his big contract extension and then raise after winning the SEC and the NC. Fine. That makes sense.
Should LSU thus be stuck paying him 10 years at top 3 salary to not win another SEC West title?
If Les is worth the money, he'll get LSU another SEC West title, thus he'll have achieved it again.
If Les stays, he should have the contract reworked for his benefit and LSU's, but to guarantee him any more money would be ridiculous.

Miles' current contract is pretty one-sided. I'd be shocked as hell if Les' agent agrees to any contractual language changes that benefit LSU.
I'm not calling BS on language changes but I'm pretty connected to these contracts and have heard nothing about this in regards to new contract or money increase.
In fact, I was emphatically told it will not be changed, in fact it has LSU by the balls more than anything. His contract though was written so screwy that it actually has write in black ink.
From LSU's perspective, we would want to rip it up and remove things things but not extend it or add money.

I get that BelowPar said that, but Les does not deserve any more money nor length in his contract
What in the HELL is wrong with you? Were dropped on your head or something?

He's gotten his benefit for winning the NC 5 times over now
No he hasn't. Miles has made much more money for
LSU than any other coach ever came close to.

I know that's not how it works, but Les shouldn't be allowed to screw LSU over again.
11-2....4 times in 6 years. When dd your "Space Vehicle" land?

We came in second and tied for second the last two seasons. The winner of our division has won the NC 3 (about to be 4 times) in the last eight seasons. Some of y'all are just fricking delusional.

If I am not mistaken, Miles has not had his contract rolled over the last two years like he did the first 4.
I would imagine he would like to have that done again. could be something him and his agent are angling for.

Yeah, that pesky 62-17 record, 5-1 bowl record, 28-1 OOC record, most SEC wins in the west, 4 seasons with 11 wins, and Top 5 BCS school winning percentage in the last 6 years does get in the way for the "but its not pretty" guys, huh.

Yes they are. It's just sad..

Cajun, that's my point. Les would be an idiot to concede anything in his contract.
I was, however, under the impression from things told by people involved in some of the contract work (and they could be wrong) that Les' renewal from the rollover was only up until 2014. Do you know anything about that?
IF that is the case, a new contract would make sense.
I just think it's hilarious that Les would be leveraging for more in his contract, when he lost 9 games over the previous two seasons and finished this season at 3rd in the SEC West.

He can't anymore. State law. New contract would have to be written.

We were 3rd this year. Accept it. Both 1 and 2 in our division beat us, but be like Ole Miss and claim 2nd when you lost to the other team with that same record.
I didn't say fire Les, which is the idiotic reaction I get from some of you.
Les is a good coach and we are improving, but excuse me for expecting no more guaranteed money until he proves he can win at least another fricking division championship which he hasn't done.
As for 4 11-win season in 6 years. Only 1 double digit winning season in 3 years. You can hold onto 2005-2007 as much as you want, it doesn't erase 8-5 and 9-4.

I can only speak for the money given out by the University. That's the portion I'm responsible for. If TAF wants to increase his promotional or money through their funds, I can't speak to that but we're not giving him any more years or money. We can't and we're against it.
Beyond the President coming down and saying, cancel this contract and replace it with a new one, it will not happen. That call would be made from the top but I've seen crazier shite happen in my limited tenure.
Posted on 1/8/11 at 12:31 am to Lonnie4LSU
Miles WILL use this to ink more years onto his contract. I know a fraction of the LSU fanbase has a major problem with this, seeing as how we didn't win the west. They somehow forget the team who WON the west is in the national fricking championship, but I mean what can you do?
