Contrary to what's been reported, he wanted the job last time it was open (badly) but didn't get a sniff. He's mended fences with some of the people who helped keep him out of Ann Arbor the last time around.
Hmm, indeed. This seems to conflict somewhat with the Guilbeau article which says Michigan asked and got permission to talk to Miles the last time - as long as it was after the SEC Champ. game. LINK. Then of course LSU threw a ton of money at him.
This has never made any sense to me, why would they have not wanted him three years ago when he had 3 consecutive 11 win seasons, but suddenly want him now after the heat he has taken the last few years?

Because they realize the mistake they may have made in not hiring him last time.

depends on who it is...I think Tuberville would keep Frank but I'm not sure about Terry Bowden or Watson Brown...

CB: If you don't mind... Reply You handicapped 60% Hoke on the radio. Then released the coaching hot board today with few realistic names other than Hoke. And you really don't want to handicap anything anymore cause it changes so frequently. Does that mean your current thinking** is someone other than Hoke?** And by current thinking ... I mean 12:00 pm on 1/6/2011.

Balas sees Jim H headed to SF 49ers as of last hour. The report that Miami was going to make him the highest paid NFL coach is false.

With Harbaugh certainly going to the NFL, it just seems like this is it for Les Miles. No coach interested in the UM job (that we know of yet) will have the resume of Les Miles. LSU will be looking for a new coach next week.

After all that has transpired, and hearing Miles comments from the presser, I think he is gone as well.

Brandon says the $5.2M for JH is false in response to a thread asking about $4.5M from SF to JH.
LINK
SF is interviewing McDaniels and Billick just in case Ross offers JH 7 or 8 M $$ for Miami
Balas says whole story on JH and why his brother John said he wants no part of Michigan will follow after the hire. Still "glimmer of hope..."
another mod opined that Hoke could be the glamourous candidate like Jim H at this time next year if they beat Boise State and wins the MW and is the glamourous non AQ team

Except the Dolphins have not decided to throw $7 million or $8 million at him. At least not yet. Ross has to meet him and decide he even wants him first, but he does want to speak with him. CB

I saw Balas explain why he included John Harbaugh on the list...

Wow this makes sense all of a sudden. Hoke must worry the natives because of lack of name recognition and recruiting credentials. This is an interesting twist with John H. in the mix. If I am Brandon, this could be the one pick that would bring most of the factions together.
Thanks and keep it coming guys
